Slider in a bad spot outside middle, but Westburg misses under, pops to Verdugo in left center, inning over. Gil survives the first. Not exactly a shutdown inning, but it'll do. 20 pitches needed.
Top 2, 4-0 Yanks Grisham, LeMahieu and back to the top for Verdugo.
Wells' 6th HR: 104.5 mph, 397 feet, 33° launch angle, a HR in all 30 MLB parks.

Grisham goes after a FB near middle on the first pitch, grounds it to Westburg, 1 down.

Old friend Gio walked off the Dodgers with a home run. I really liked Gio. We all did. Hard player not to like.

LeMahieu takes a slider just outside, called a strike anyway, missed by an inch or two on Gameday. Random strike zone in effect again. Curve at the knees outside middle, rolled to Henderson in the 56 hole, he throws him out 2 down.

Rodriguez throws 33 pitches in the first inning, so our batters see 4 in the second.

Wow, tough play made by Henderson. Yankees patiently stress the pitcher with an entire four pitches that inning. Judge exceeds that on an average at bat.

I just don’t get it. 33 pitches for Rodriguez in the first inning. Then Grisham swings at the doorstep pitch. And we let him off with a 4 pitch inning. We could have really worked him over…

Old friend Gio walked off the Dodgers with a home run. I really liked Gio. Meant a lot more to the Yanks than given credit for by many.

And Verdugo finished a completely brain-dead 2nd inninng for the Yanks by going after a 1st pitch FB about 4 inches outside, and popping it to short left. Henderson goes back to make a nifty grab, inning over.
Bad bad hitting allows Rodriguez to get a 1-2-3 on 4 pitches, putting him at 37 through 2 and getting Gil right back out there after a bit of a tough inning of his own. Bottom 2, 4-0 Yanks. Mountcastle, Cowser and Hays for the O's in the 2nd.

I don’t hear much about my East Coast sound, but once in a while people from out there will accuse me of being from Pennsylvania, which I almost was, about 2 miles off the Mason Dixon line, or Virginia. Only once they got MD right. Seems to be a forgotten state… Met a guy on jury duty that is going to be assigned to work 3 MD projects and is excited to go. Was asking me what it’s like. As with most states it depends where in the state you’re bound. He has no idea yet… I had friends from Baltimore area with very distinctive accents... Baltimore is different from my part of the state. Us from the northern part had trouble understanding them…

Sad to say, DJ looks nothing like the player we signed. So many weak grounders.

Rodriguez throws 33 pitches in the first inning, so our batters see 4 in the second. You would hope that the Yankees would have a team approach for each starting pitcher. They never seem to do so. Did you notice that the Orioles' announces said Baltimore takes infield early before every single game? The Yankees for some reason stopped doing so under Boone.

Mountcastle takes a FB that missed just inside, but called a strike anyway, 0% on Gameday by an inch or so. A break for Gil. Takes the slider well outside, 1-1 FB in the zone near the inside corner above the waist, he hits a sinking liner to center, but Grisham reads this one right makes a catch leaning down. 1 out.

Old friend Gio walked off the Dodgers with a home run. I really liked Gio. Meant a lot more to the Yanks than given credit for by many. He over performed for a while. He was also seemingly much better at 3rd that the metrics showed…
