Rice gets a 1st pitch FB above middle, fouls it back, 0-1
Fooled by a change diving well low in the middle, swung over, 0-2
Starts at the change diving low/away, stops in time, 1-2
Curve down and in, Rice spits on it, 2-2
Another change disappearing low in the middle, he chases again for the K. And I think they might have found his weakness. He'll have to do something about it or he'll wind up like Aaron Hicks, career forever crippled by the fact he couldn't hit a change.

FB at the high outside corner at 98, takes it for the ꓘ, inning over.
Rodriguez K's the side around the double by Judge. 21 pitches and 58 through 3.

Urias, then back to the top for Henderson and Rutschman for the O's in their half of the 2nd.

Takes a FB in the middle of the plate above the knees at 97, 0-1
Takes a change low near the corner away, 1-1
Slider bends well outside, waist high, 2-1
Gets under a 97 FB it misses up and in, making Urias bend back, 3-1
Another bad slider goes way outside at the knees, ball 4.
Leadoff walk, and with Henderson and Rutschman due in, Gil is in a bit of trouble again.

Gunderson gets a 1st pitch change inside middle, rolls it toward the 34 hole, Torres flags it down, wheels to 2nd for the force, no chance to turn two on that one. 1 down.

Change tails early and well outside, Rutschman reads it easily, takes, 2-2
Another great back leg slider K's a lefty, Rutschman swings over it, 2 down.

Change 6 inches outside, Santander takes, 1-0
FB misses above the corner away, 2-0
Change down and in drops just enough so that Santander is early and on top, pulling it foul, 2-1
Gets a change he thinks is a fastbal, but it takes well outside and he swing well inside of it and early, 2-2
Slider drops to the very bottom of the zone in the middle, Santander swings over it for the K.
If he can consistently deliver that slider down and in to lefties, it's a big 2 strike weapon against them and will get them off of his fastball.
Top 4, 4-0 Yanks.
16 pitches for Gil in the 3rd, and 51 total through 3 innings.
Wells, Volpe and Grisham for the Yanks in the 4th.

Sox lead the Royals 4-0, top 4 at Fenway.
Jays-D'backs don't play for another 5 hours.

Change drops to the knees outside middle, Wells rolls it to Westburg, he goes to his left to get it, turns and throws him out, 1 down.

Volpe chases a curve going out of the zone low/away, fouls it
Gets a hittable FB inside middle, tries to jerk it, is late and under, fouls it off, and loses the bat into the Yankee dugout, 0-2
Chases another bad curve well low, tops it to short, Henderson charges, gloves it, throws him out. Henderson is the player Volpe wishes he was, but isn't. 2 down.

Grisham takes a FB near the low inside corner for a strike, 0-1
Fouls off a FB outer 3rd, 0-1
Gets another FB in the same spot at 98, is late and under again, fouling it off again.
Gets a 3rd FB in almost the same spot, but centers this one, the sinker liner to right, and again, Santander dives, and again, traps it for a 2 out single.
