FB above the inside corner, Urias chases and misses under, 0-1 FB about 3-4 inches above the middle of the zone, fouled back, 0-2 Don't hang an offspeed here, Luis.

Blake goes out to try to settle things down, 3 hard hit balls this inning off of Gil. 103 on the triple, 106 and 107 on the two singles. Gil could get to another level if he had a little get me over curveball. The repertoire needs more variation in velocity if he isn't on the corners.

Did hang the slider but in a tough spot, the high outside corner, Urias rolls it over to 3rd, DJ charges, fields and throws him out, inning over. Gil escapes the jam, and if he makes it through 5, that will have to do.
O's get on the board, trail 4-1 going top 5. 21 pitches for Gil in the 4th, and he's caught up to Rodriguez at 72 pitches through 4 innings.
Top of the order for the Yanks in the 5th: Verdugo, Soto and Judge.

Blake likes to add cutters to every pitcher's arsenal, he got Cole to add one when he joined the Yanks, and he's tried with Rodon as well.

FB misses outside above the waist, but Random-K-zone says it's a strike. Gameday says 0% by an inch or two. Change on the low outside corner, rolls it over to Westburg, throws Verdugo out, 1 down.

Soto gets the run back after a terribly impatient at bat from Verdugo.

Soto takes a curve above and inside middle for a strike Gets a change below and outside middle, and he hammers it to deep right of center, it gets over the wall for a solo HR and the Yanks get the run back right away, and lead 5-1!!!

Soto gets the run back after a terribly impatient at bat from Verdugo. Can't blame Verdugo much on that one, the first pitch was a ball called a strike. Can't hand Rodriguez an 0-2 count.

Judge chases a curve low/away on the 1st pitch, 0-1 Takes a slider well low and outside, 1-1 A closer slider is still out of the zone, Judge takes, 2-2 Change just inside below the waist, fouled, 2-2 Takes his timeout. Leaves another change hanging near middle, and Judge hits a towering blast off the batter's eye, left of center, back to back HRs with Soto make it a 6-1 Yankees lead!!!

Rice takes a curve well low near middle, 1-0 Takes a change tailing outside, 2-0 Starts way too soon, anticipating a hittable FB, can't check on the back leg slider, 2-1 Well spotteed FB at 97 tails to the inner 3rd, and he takes it, 2-2 Rodriguez tests him with the same curve he threw on the 1st pitch, and again Rice takes it, 3-2. Back to the change here, I think Change dives to the inner 3rd at the knees, and Rice swings over it for the K. Someone (Soto?) will have to teach him to read the change.
