Westburg takes a FB near the top in the middle, 0-1, and Mountcastle steals 2nd. Slider on the back door up in the zone, taken, 0-2 Swings over a bounced back leg slider for the K.
Is it possible to be pitching a bad game if you have 6 K's in the first three innings? Because not only is Rodon dowwn 2-1, but he's at 78 pitches through 3, and he's almost certainly not going much past the 4th.
4-5-6 for the Yanks in the 4th: verdugo, Torres and Wells.

Rodon with 26 pitches per inning thus far. His stuff seems much better than his sequencing.

Lately everytime I see Rodon pitch I feel like I owe Paterson an apology. I thought he was a good signing and Paterson said we would come to regret it. The thing is, it was, on-paper, a bargain of sorts. Normallya pitcher who's been top 5 in the Cy Young would get over $30 million a year, but his history of short starts and frequent injuires dropped that several million. But he just looks like another big signing who can't handle New York and the Yankees.

Verdugo takes a FB high, ball 1. A cutter misses just outside but it called a strike anyway, 0% on Gameday by an inch, marginal. Gets a FB middle out, and misses, fouling it. FB way low in the middle, taken, 2-2 Splitter in almost the same spot as the FB, Verdugo chases and manages to foul it. Cutter low outer half, 3-2 Spliter well low and in, Verdugo lays off and gets himself a leadoff walk. Yanks must use it and answer back.

Torres takes a sinker low. Then takes a cutter almost right down the middle, 1-1 And, of course, goes after the sinker at the very top of the zone, in the middle, bunts(!) it...Kremer fields and throws to 1st with Verdugo going to 2nd. Sac bunt (?!?) moves Verdugo to 2nd, with 1 out.

Gleyber provides an out via a bunt to move Verdugo. This is Dean "Non-Dairy" Kremer, not prime Pedro Martinez or Randy Johnson.

Wells takes a bounced splitter, ball 1 Curve drops onto the corner up and away, 1-1 Splitter hits the low outside corner, fouled, 1-2 Chases a sinker about 3 inches high above the middle, he's late and under, flies to Hays in left, takes a couple of steps to the line, catches, 2 down.

Volpe takes a sinker inner 3rd, waist high, 0-1 Gets a curve above middle, just misses under, flies to Cowser in medium deep right center, dies a couple of steps from the track, inning over. Yanks waste the leadoff walk.
Bottom 4, 2-1 O's. 17 pitches for Kremer in the 4th, 63 total.
Hays, Mateo and Cowswer for the O's in their half of the inning.

Gleyber should be benched for dropping down that bunt.

Torres bunting is a joke. The Gleyber moves in mysterious ways, his wonders to perform.
