Siri misses a cutter on the corner inside, 1-0 Gets a FB down the middle, serves it to right for a 1 out single.

My mistake; I thought the Monday game was in the evening, but it isn't, 1:07 start. Ugh, there's a game I will miss.

Rortvedt takes a Fb in the zone up and away, 0-1 Slurve waist high inner 3rd, freezes him, 0-2 Takes his timeout. Takes a slurve down and in, 1-1 Lays off the cutter low/away, 2-2 Tries to go to one knee, Reggie-style, to get the cutter down and in, misses it for the K, 2 down. One out to go.

Caballero misses a fat FB above middle, 0-1 FB at the high outside corner, fouled back, 0-2 Takes the back leg cutter that might have bounced, 1-2. Takes another one in almost the same spot, he started that time, but checks in time, 2-2 FB in almost the same spot as the first pitch, and he somehow jams himself a hair, and his fliner goes right to Verdugo in left to end the game.
Yanks win comfortably, 6-1. Actually their 3rd win in 4 games, moves them back to 19 games over .500 at 59-40.

Stars of the game...easy to pick the 3 stars, not so easy to put them in order...I'll list them, and if you don't like my order (in order of WPA for tonight), put them in any order you want, they're all close to equal in my opinion:
3rd star of the game: Soto (WPA +.127), for getting on base 5 times, putting constant pressure on the Rays' pitching and scoring 3 runs. 2nd star: Cole (WPA +.205), for 6 solid innings...he struggled with pitchcount a bit, but was otherwise excellent for the 2nd straight game, giving up just 1 run on 6 hits and a BB with 8 K's, getting to 3-1 on the season with an ERA of 4.60. 1st star: Volpe (WPA +.253)...he still doesn't look good at the plate, but he did get 2 hits, and did have the crushing 3 run double in the 3rd that, as the Kay and O'Neill said, completely changed the game. 1-0 top 4th after loading the bases with nobody out in the 3rd is demoralizing. That double made it 4-0 and just about ended things for the night in the 3rd inning.

Ugh, there's a game I will miss. Are you still looking for a new job, Chi? Just sort of, if a headhunter comes to me with an opportunity I'll listen, but for now, I like being close to home with a short commute.
