Torres with a stupid stupid at bat. Gets a sinker well inside ON THE FIRST PITCH, and he tries to muscle it, but he's so tied up, the flare is soft and goes to Paredes off 1st, 2 down. That swing is defensible with 2 strikes, and not on the first pitch.

Two more bad at bats by Verdugo and Gleyber. They were lucky to get a run.

lol, yes. I’m a bit under the weather today. Had my 2nd and final shingle vaccine shot yesterday, and like a dumbass I was out in the sun this afternoon for almost 1/2 hour… which sent me to bed for a couple hours. Got up just before first pitch… Are you supposed to avoid the sun following the shingles shot? Yes. And it was bright as hell. I think the main reason is that it’s important to stay hydrated. The sun here can suck the water out of you quick at this altitude…

Wells takes a sweeper outside, ball 1 Argggg! Takes a 1-0 FB in the drop the bat happy zone, 1-1 And then chases a cutter outside and low, 1-2. Sigh. Takes a curve bounced over home, 2-2 Takes a cutter that maybe got a piece of the bottom, inner half, YES zone says no, Gameday says 1-5%. Might have gotten a break, 3-2 Fb misses outside 4-5 inches, ball 4.

Volpe takes a thigh-high slider on the corner away. And if Volpe thought that was outside, he's pulling off the plate too much, 50-50 on Gameday, 0-1 Takes a sinker low over the middle, 1-1 Tries to check on a curve to the knees that was a strike anyway, 1-2. Curve below the inside corner and Volpe opens up early again, his hard grounder is right down the 3rd base line, past Caballero's dive to his right, rolls to the corner, all 3 runs scorea and it's 4-0, Yanks!!!
Boy oh boy, did Volpe need that break from the BABIP gods.

Grisham takes a cutter on the corner inside near the top, 0-1 Takes a curve below the inner 3rd, 1-1 Gets a cutter up in the zone, fouled off, 1-2 Gets a sinker in a crushable spot, but tops it to Lowe at 2nd, throws him out, inning over.
Yanks break through for 4, lead 4-0, going top 4.
30 pitches for Eflin in the 3rd, and 60 through 3.
B. Lowe, Arozarena and J. Lowe for the Rays in the 4th.
