FB gets a tiny piece of the corner inside, not called, 1-5% on Gameday, 1-0
FB misses just high, 2-0
Ok, so you decide to swing 2-0 DOWN BY 8 to try to get yourself going, and you get a cutter just below middle, and yank it foul off 1st. Good job.
Slider above and inside middle middle, popped to 3rd, easy play for Rosario, 1 down.

Volpe takes a sinker above middle middle, 0-1
Takes a FB in the zone up/away, 0-2
Takes a slider well low/away 1-2
You know what I'd like to see, I'd like to see Volpe STOP OPENING UP ON EVERY PITCH, step in and go to right with the pitch away, and whatever happens, happens.
Sinker in the middle near the top, and he DOESN'T FLY OPEN, drives it to right center and gets a double in the gap.

Grisham takes a FB in the zone a bit down and in, 0-1
Gets a sinker below and inside middle, pulls it fou, 0-2
Takes a Cutter high just outside middle, 1-2
FB waist high about 4-5 inches inside, fouled down off the ground near his feet and it either hit him on the fly or the bounce. He's not hurt, though.

Cutter breaks inside right at him, he turns his back into it, hits him in the elbow pad, Rizzo-style. HBP puts runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out, but unfortunately, it's LeMahieu.

Of course this guy would pitch on the anniversary of man first walking on the moon. That's right, 55 years ago today. I was 10 years old, but of course my parents let me stay up to watch the truly great feat in American history. Maybe all that will be remembered of us hundreds of years from now, assuming to Chinese don't push it down the memory hole. |

Cutter just outside thigh high, 3-2
Gets a FB just below and outside middle, DJ read it as the same cutter, had to decide too early to take it, and it's 100% strike for the ꓘ.
Every at bat, DJ takes a swing or a take that reminds you his bat speed is way down from his prime.

Chases a FB well high above the corner away for the K, inning over.
Top 9, 8-0 Rays.
Guys like Wells and Rice, rookies trying to plant their feet in the majors, should not be batting leadoff and cleanup for a true contender. They should be batting in the bottom 3rd in lower pressure spots, until they get enough experience to move up, but the current poor perfermance by 4 more veteran hitters and their failures in those rolls is fording the Yanks to use them in crucial roles.
Paredes, Mead and Arozarena for the Rays in the 9th
Boone denies Judge a final at bat to keep him "safe". Jones is in there, so is Narvaez.
