I know that Yankees haven't been hitting consistently lately, but Bradley is a good pitcher.

Of course this guy would pitch on the anniversary of man first walking on the moon. Ah, good one.

Of course this guy would pitch on the anniversary of man first walking on the moon. That's right, 55 years ago today. I was 10 years old, but of course my parents let me stay up to watch the truly great feat in American history. Maybe all that will be remembered of us hundreds of years from now, assuming to Chinese don't push it down the memory hole. I remember that night being outside with my friends and our parents. My friends and me kept looking up at the moon thinking how amazing it was that there are Astronauts up there.

I love Nestor, but I can’t wait til he gets pulled today. He’s been horrid… I'm starting to wonder when Schmidt comes off the IL or if a trade is made for a starting pitcher, if Nestor is the pitcher that's going to the bullpen. It probably won't happen, but he would be better than any of the Yankees current lefties in the bullpen.
Both Rodon and Nestor have been struggling. Considering Nestor seems to pitch better early in games he is probably the better BP option.

Saw first couple innings then had to run errands. If the playoffs started tomorrow I'm not sure I would trust Rodon or Nestor. I was thinking we were ok with SP, but now I'm starting to rethink it a bit. I wonder if the Yankees feel the same way, since there's speculation that they might trade for a starting pitcher.

Seems like since he ran into the wall he isn't the same? I'm not saying hes going to give 30 HR power or anything, but he had a lot of huge clutch hits for the Red Sox and we haven't seen that in the last month or so. I don’t believe he was injured that day. He’s just lost his way. A NY thing? If you look at his career, he’s never had a real big bat, but I was hoping for a modest uptick in Yankee Stadium. Maybe .260/20/80. These grounders to second are so ridiculous… It seems to me when a lefty hitter is trying to pull an outside pitch many times he hits a ground ball to the 2Bman, which is something Verdugo does a lot.
Maybe it's a short porch thing?

Yes, I agree on Boone as I’ve been a critic of his. I still don’t love some of his decisions but he was handed garbage this season. Granted some of that is players underperforming but the bench and depth of this roster meant any key injury could sink them. Ultimately, left and third base are once again offensive black holes and throw in Torres and his complete lack of production. Heck, Rice has added a spark but they’ve mostly gotten nothing from first either. We’re not even talking about the weakness in the bullpen and starting pitching. It’s absolutely amazing that they were able to have the start that they did. As it stands I don’t think they should be 10-20 in their last 30 bad but they look closer to the team some thought would be in the 80-85 win territory. In defense of Cashman, somthing I don't do often, I'm sure he expected much more offense from Verdugo and Torres. These are two players who are seriously underperforming and it's hard to understand why . I'm also sure he expected more from DJL and Rizzo, but the lack of production and availability from these two guys was more forseeable. Both players are in their contract years too.

This may sound lame, but WHY can't the hitting coach do something for Verdugo. Michael Kay went over how many categories Verdugo is last in MLB... He was good in the first couple of months, then fell off the cliff... He always did well when with Boston.. Again, what is the role of a hitting coach.. ??????? Or otherwise sit him, as has been suggested.... I think players have to be able to take coaching and apply it. I'm sure hitters are working with coaches, getting feedback, looking at film, trying to make adjustments but when they step into the batters box it's up to them to apply what they are being shown. as a golfer maybe you can relate to this. recently had a couple golf lessons and the pro has made some 'tweaks" to my swing. i fully understand what he's saying and sometime get it "right" during my practice swing but as soon as the ball is there, i revert. it's hard to change one's ingrained bad habits.
ballplayers are obviously on a whole other level, but i can imagine it being difficult for them as well. gleyber and volpe are in the same boat. they open up and commit too soon and i'm sure have been told, watch video etc but they don't seem to make the adjustment for whatever reason.
