A lot of Griffey Jr. talk in this thread so this is for those that just can't get enough of his sweet lefty swing. Early in this highlight reel, Jr. is hitting one of Clemens. Although he was never implicated, Griffey’s numbers always made me suspicious of PED involvement. That’s more a symptom of the times than anything else, and symptomatic of the culture of those years…

I've got to nominate Rocky Colavito who is indeed still with us. Not because I believe he is the greatest living player but because he was my favorite player growing up and I want to see him get a mention.

From the Belmont section of The Bronx (like Dion DiMucci.) That trade with Detroit for Harvey Kuenn was a major event. What a powerful arm. And he didn't hit many cheap home runs either. I got his autograph at Yankee Stadium when he was with the Tigers. Seemed like a good guy. One of my favorite non-Yankees (yeah I know he played for the Yankees near the end of his career but he always seemed like a Cleveland Indian to me.) Rock will turn 91 in August.

Michael Jack Schmidt: OPS+ of 148 and a gold glover at the hot corner. How about penciling in that production at third base for nearly two decades? Pipps, funny that you should mention Mike Trout with his OPS+ of 173, because it is really astounding that he and Aaron Judge are the same age. Trout has nearly 2600 more plate appearances to date.

Hey there Rizz -- yep, even with all of his injuries over the past six years, Trout started at age 19 while Judge had to wait until age 24. And Judge has missed his share of games over the years himself. Trout has missed so many games in recent years that he almost seems like a retired player to me.

I read somewhere that Trout is starting a rehab assignment this week and should be back soon. I hope he stays healthy once he resumes playing, he's such a great player.

One of my favorite memories was the Yanks were getting beat pretty good early in the first game of a DH against the Tigers. I think Houk was the manager and he brought Colavito in to pitch to save the pen for game 2. Rocky pitched 3 scoreless innings of 1 hit ball and the Yanks came back and won. I remember watching that game like it was yesterday.

Between playing for a bad team on the West Coast and missing so many games I almost feel cheated of opportunities to watch him. And he isn't getting any younger. I don't know if we'll ever see peak Mike Trout again. Still keeps a home in Millville New Jersey.

He pitched 5 2/3 total innings, no runs and one hit. Not too shabby. Hah, we were watching the same game 55. I remember it too. It was 1968. I'm too lazy to search for the box score right now.

I know Trout is a weather fanatic and keeps a home meteorology station. I think he is still making all the Eagles home games.

There were probably some potential Ohtani's in baseball's past but those guys didn't have the DH to fall back on. It's too hard to pitch and play a position as a hitter, in my opinion.

The Babe felt the same way.
