Here is my end of a discussion with Jwild on Scout after he chided me for busting on Ohtani in ST. (posted yesterday on Scout)...
Of course, it's also a long season, but yes...Ohtani had me, as well as many other people fooled...but just as he was able to "turn the switch on at the start of the season, MLB is not that easy, and there will be...in fact perhaps have already been some adjustments made.
Since 05/11 Ohtani's batting line has been .204/.339/.347 in 15 games (not counting today, I didn't check)...In his first 16 games he hit .354/.400/1.077.
His pitching has remained solid and at times spectacular...though when you realize that there are about 50 pitchers who have made 12 or more starts already and Ohtani has made only 8 because the Angels are scheduling him differently, that does reduce his overall value if it continues over the long haul, and perhaps it may have a negative impact on scheduling the rest of the starting pitchers...who knows?
At this point, I'm at the least happy that the circus went elsewhere, especially since the player himself didn't want to be on the east coast...And in agreement with you jwild...we have many other players that we can utilize for the DH spot...
Yes, so far the "Japanese Babe Ruth", not so much like the one America produced so many years ago...Time will bear all out...

I'd rather have Stanton than Ohtani. Stanton has not been playing his best baseball yet and he's still on pace for 39 HRs. Ohtani is also having blister problems.

Also Ohtani is a big wuss. For all we know he asked out of facing Tanaka and he refused to come to the Yankees because it was a big market team.

Anaheim is like a big suburb of LA. It's so laid back there that seems like the Angels don't have the big pressure or expectations as the Dodgers and certainly not on the scale of the Yankees or Red Sox.

Yep, it's like rooting for Disneyland. And, no one remembers the score from yesterday. Fans spend more time on their phones and at the concession stands than watching the game. Doing the wave and batting beach balls are mainstays.

"Hey, dude...stand up and cheer, man"
"What for"?
"Cause somebody did something, man".
"What was it? Did Trout do it, man? Was it Trout? Cause if it was, I'm gonna scream my ass off".
"It doesn't matter, when the rest of them cheer, you're supposed to do it, too".
"Okay, man...you seen the beach ball? Look, Sally just texted me again!" "Yay, go Rams"...What a football game"...
"They say Trout is one of the best quarterbacks ever, right"???

Ohtani has UCL sprain, to go on DL
The Angels will place two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani on the disabled list with a Grade 2 sprain of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right pitching elbow, the team announced Friday. Ohtani, who received both platelet-rich plasma and stem-cell injections on Thursday in Los Angeles, will be re-evaluated in three weeks.

According to a report late Tuesday by Yahoo Sports, which cited the results of a physical exam Ohtani underwent in Tokyo in late November, the injury is characterized as a first-degree sprain of his right (throwing) ulnar collateral ligament. Although a first-degree sprain is considered mild, further damage could require Tommy John ligament-replacement surgery.
