Hey! It was me that said I’d put Soto on the table. And I would. It would have to be a great payback, but we have holes to fill, men. Including RF if we traded him. I’m not saying it would be easy, and I would miss him… That idea was kicked around a bit way back on March. Check the posts from the 18th. One problem with doing that is that the Yankees have a ton of tickets sold and those fans are going to be angry. And of course the 2nd is that Cashman would come up with a handful of magic beans for him. 😂😂😂😂 🫘😂😂😂😂

trading soto is a wild idea. interesting. even as a rental would bring back a haul and of course we could play the aroldis trick. but just don't see them doing that. would represent a total punt on this season and that's not how we roll. there'd probably be a fan revolt and yeah pissed customers who bought tickets.

Right, punting on a season when you're only 2 games out of first place is not a good look.

Stanton is a least a week away, so sitting Torres wouldn't be a given. I doubt that the Yankees are going to re-sign Torres anyway, so maybe they trade him if they have faith that Jorbit can be their everyday 2Bman. Then again, why would anyone want Gleyber with the way he's playing and the fact he's a free agent after the season? Maybe there's a team(s) that think he needs a change of scenery, and are interested in re-signing him that might look to trade for him while his trade value is low.

Gleyber's only driven in 35 runs this season, despite batting behind Soto and Judge who are always on base. That might be the most frustrating part of his bad season. And he is not cheap. He has a $14 M deal so maybe a team acquiring him would be on the hook for $5 M. That is a lot of money for teams that don't play in New York, 5 million dollars is not a lot money for a large majority of teams in today's MLB.

I've been wondering a bit lately if the Yanks don't try to move Verdego in a change of scenery trde.
The change of scenery trade I'd like to see is Holmes for Doval.

Only 5 players on Baltimore make more than that per seasson. Four do in Cleveland. The Pirates had 6, the Reds 3, the Royals 5 and even the Cardinals only paid 8 of their active roster 5 million or more for the 2024 season. Baseball fans from other communities resent the &@ll out of Yankee fans for our attitude towards money, In some part I get it though I do remind them that the New York, LA fans pay a lot of the freight for the entire league. But all that said, Torres salary puts him near the top of the food chain in most cities.

You can add the Rays and A's to the teams you mentioned and those teams don't come close to being a large majority of MLB teams.
