Soto chased by a bee out of the box, takes a slider, lucky it was out of the zone, 1-0
Takes a slider bounced inside, 2-0. I'd tell Soto what to do, but that's silly.

It didn't work out, but I for one have no problem with one of the best hitters in MLB getting the green light 3-0.

Pitch count climbing for Diaz Or Baz, one of them Slider misses down and in, 3-0. FB in the zone up and away, hammered down to Paredes, who turns a 3-6-3 DP. Soto barely beated at 1st, Yanks take a quick look but don't challenge. Even Soto can force himself into hero ball mode. There was NO REASON TO SWING at a 3-0 FB in the zone up and away but he did. Signature moment, gang. It's just 1-0, but Yanks in trouble in this one. Top 3, 1-0 Rays. |

It didn't work out, but I for one have no problem with one of the best hitters in MLB getting the green light 3-0. He has that himself...no one is gonna give him a take sign. |

It didn't work out, but I for one have no problem with one of the best hitters in MLB getting the green light 3-0. With Baz struggling with command, it's dubious, but it's Soto, so OK. What I have a problem with is Soto going after that FB in the zone up and away, and not trying to drive it the other way, as he usually does with that pitch. 22 pitches in the 2nd, and 44 through 2 for Baz. Siri, Walls and Palacios for the Rays in the 3rd. |
