Elsewhere in the AL East, the O's are off today, then travel down to Miami tomorrow to start a 3-game series against the dreadful Marlins. The Jays are also off; the Rays will fly to Toronto after today's game to begin a 3-game series at Rodgers Centre. After losing Sunday night, the Sox flew to Denver to play at 8:40 pm tonight, getting an immediate opportunity to shake off getting swept in LA with a 3-game series against the wretched Rockies at Coors Field. Tanner Houck, 8-6 on the season and 4th in the AL with a 2.54 ERA starts for Boston; lefty Austin Gomber (2-6, 4.61 ERA) will throw for Colorado. Gomber has had a bit of a rough time lately; he's 1-2 in his last 5 starts with an ERA of 5.40.
And, at 1:07 pm this afternoon at the Stadium, it's Littell vs. Rodon Preview stuff now concluded, I'll rejoin you in a half-hour for the game.

As bad as the lineup looks the biggest issue today is Carlos Rodon. Anyone here think he makes it to the 6th ? We can usually tell about Rodon right away in the first inning. I'll put over/under at 25 first inning pitches

If this was thew NFL 2/3 of the team would be CAP and waiver cuts. This is the same team that was 52-27 (.658) prior to Stanton going down. Problems were there they just now got exposed. Now they are free falling.

Not being a jerk or looking to start BUT if Stanton comes back this weekend we won't make two weeks until calf or hammy again.

Problems were there they just now got exposed. Now they are free falling. Same team... This is NOT the same team we watched in April and May. The uniform #'s might be the same but the attitude and performance sunk. Some of these guy went from steering a decorated Battleship into battle to playing music on the Titanic.

Rodon has finished his warmups. Rosario steps in. Game underway, takes a FB inside, called a strike anyway, Rodon gets a break with the first pitch, 0-1 FB up and in, maybe got a tiny piece of the corner, 0-2, 0-1% on Gameday Swings over a slider out of the zone down and in, K, 1 down.

Paredes takes a FB that nicks the high outside corner, 0-1 Curve hangs ouside, 1-1 FB misses well outside at the top, 2-1 FB misses high on the outer half, 3-1 FB just below and outside middle, fouled straight back, 3-2 FB at the top of the zone, outer 3rd, fouled. Change on the outside corner, just below the top, popped to Soto in right, easy play, 2 down.

Mead... FB yanked way inside ball 1. Change tails outside 2-0 FB misses up and in, 3-0 Get it over FB right down the middle taken, 3-1 FB down and in, he tries to inside out it, doesn't square it up, hits a grounder pretty much right at Cabrera, throws him out, inning over.
Rodon has a great 1st inning, a 15-pitch 1-2-3 with a K.
Bottom 1, 0-0.

Slider down and in maybe got the corner, taken, 0-1 on Rice Slider hangs well high over the inner half, 1-1 Change misses low a couple of inches in the middle, called strike 2 anyway, 1-2; 3 inches low on Gameday, 0%. Takes a slidere down and in, 2-2 Sweeper on the back door at 82, hits the zone up and away, swung under for the K, 1 down.

Soto... Takes a sweeper near the low inside corner for a strike Slider outside middle, Soto late, fouls it off. FB at 94 well high, outer 3rd, Soto chases for the K, 2 down. Not "just outside the strike zone" Paulie, missed by 5-6 inches high. Bad chase by Soto. Unusual.
