Probably the best hit ball by a Yankee that whole game. Max, I could be wrong because I wasn't paying close attention but I also thought the DJL groundout with the tying run on 3rd was hit hard. When he hit it, I thought it was a hit but guess the 2b had him played perfectly.

For what it's worth, the Yanks had xix balls hit harder than 100 mph last night; Grisham, of all people, had two of them...
The hardest hit was the hard grounder by Grisham that almost knocked over Alonso as he fielded it in the 7th, only to have Nunez drop the throw: 105.7 mph 2nd hardest was the Verdugo double that scored the Yanks' 2nd run: 103.7. Next hardest was the Rice flyout to the wall in left center: 102.9 Next was the LeMahieu grounder: 100.5 Next was the Torres HR to right that gave the Yanks the early lead: 100.4 Finally, the Grisham flyball to the track in deep left center leading off the 9th that came close to tying the game: 100.2 mph and 400 feet to where the fence is about 408 feet from home.

While they stress money more we spend a lot of money. Teams who spend a lot less do better. I don't think the issue is spending, it is where you spend it (particularly the long focus on pitching entirely ignoring hitting). The roster and revenue rules are designed to "level the field" for all 30 teams. They work. The eras where money alone could assure success are over. Teams that can spend still have a big advantage. Rich teams have an enormous advantage in free agency. But money alone can't do it Yes, money can keep the Yankees winning every year...but success in the postseason ? Not so much.

For what it is worth, I will be at the game on Wednesday. Doesn't sound like much, but I live in Chicago and am visiting my daughter who lives in Montclair, NJ. I have never been to the new stadium and she surprised me with tickets!!! Hopefully, they will win today and go for a sweep tomorrow. Have a good time. Good weather, great seats, but a waste of a game... Coles' wife and son were sitting just behind us. The boy is very young and kept cheering his dad on.. Nice.. I don't think Cole will be too pleasant at home tonight..
