OK, that's going to do it for me for tonight. Enjoy the off day, and I'll see you Friday evenning for the first game in Fenway. Good night to all you. Bye.

Oh God, he said it AGAIN. "It's right in front of us."
You just got to laugh.

We got a Chewy delivery today. The label on the box said “MAY BE HEAVY”. It was a lie. The dog food was much heavier…

Instead of watching the game, I binged some “Gunsmoke” episodes. I still worry if Matt is going to die every time he gets sh*t in the arm. Like is there a fatal cumulative number of bullets to the arm?
Plus without vowels you don’t know if he got sh*t in the arm or got sh*t in his arm. Infections are real, and they’re dangerous.
I also worry how long it might take for Newly to turn into Oldie…

I see we earned a consolation run late in the game. Did one of the Met’s moms come into pitch?…

What an amazing musician he was. I like a lot of America's stuff because in general I like melodic harmonies, although the stream of consciousness lyrics in their early days I could do without. Two of my favorites from them are "Don't Cross The River" and one of their late ones "Today's The Day." Two geographic groups I didn't care for were Kansas and Asia. How about Alabama? Do the Georgia Satellites and the Ohio Players count? I never liked Boston.

Watching the Yanks right now is like watching the final season of "Dexter". You hope it gets better, but it just gets worse and worse.

I also worry how long it might take for Newly to turn into Oldie… It's estimated Matt was shot 56 times, knocked unconscious 29 times, stabbed 3 times, poisoned once. Remarkable he was able to last as long as he did. Considering all those incidents his 20+ year streak is more impressive than Cal Ripkens. Newly made an appearance on Yellowstone as Oldie. Talking about infections, one of the most interesting books I've ever read was by Candice Mallard titled "Destiny of the Republic". It was about the assassination of James Garfield and the attempt to save his life. He could have been saved but the doctors didn't understand about germs and their efforts to save him actually killed him. It is an interesting book and I highly recommend it.

Empty words. He needs to go. Yeah, pretty much. The begs the obvious follow-up question: And what will YOU do, MANAGER Boone, to get your players to play better? If you truly believe they're a title contender, then why are they playing like this? Is it YOU? And if you don't believe it, why are you (very bad word)ing everyone off by insisting that they are? Just to keep collecting your paycheck? I have a bit of a different take. I don't think Boone is saying it to keep collecting a pay check. I think he's saying it for the players. I think he is a competitor and refuses to give up no matter how bad it gets. He has to understand that some of these guys aren't going to get better. He's hoping for some reinforcements and that the guys who should be playing better start clicking. He may not feel this team is a title contender as it is currently constructer, but there is no way he would ever say that. I'm sure they are working with players like Verdugo and Torres to get them going, but they have to do it, Boone can't step in the box with them. He's trying different things but not much is working because we have so much dead weight. Then making matters worse, in a game where you ace starts you give up double digit runs. If the Yankees fail to make the playoffs Boone will not be back, but if he is let go and Cash stays that will be an injustice.

A belated RIP to Dave Loggins, the guy who sung "Please Come to Boston". Hey Chi -- I guess this doesn't qualify as a Wrong Thread Alert since the game thread dissolved into a music thread as it sometimes does during lousy games. Anyway, Dave Loggins also wrote the music used as the theme for The Masters tournament. The peaceful stuff that's playing while Jim Nantz goes into maudlin mode about "a tradition unlike any other." I love The Masters -- it's one of my favorite sporting events -- but they lay it on a little thick at times. Kenny Loggins is a second cousin to Dave.
