You can ask that question all you want, but none of us are major league managers. None of us are with these men day in and day out to evaluate what might work for each individual player. However, there are other people out there that are qualified to be major league managers. Some of them CAN actually make changes to help out players who aren't quite living up to their potential. So...you don't know. and of course not one of us knows what goes on in the clubhouse or the work being done during practice.

Damn. Being laughed off by the Mets. I’m so fortunate to have missed this one… I hope they score 20 on us…

Maybe....but the differences between me and Bruce Bochy is more than just our choice of work clothes. Bochy spent more seasons with mediocre/losing records than winning. In fact, his career record over 27 years as a manager is .499. Can't get more mediocre. I tend to focus on WS wins. All I am saying is that a manager cannot make gold out of lead...but there are differences in quality.

Hey Chi -- I guess this doesn't qualify as a Wrong Thread Alert since the game thread dissolved into a music thread as it sometimes does during lousy games. Anyway, Dave Loggins also wrote the music used as the theme for The Masters tournament. The peaceful stuff that's playing while Jim Nantz goes into maudlin mode about "a tradition unlike any other." I love The Masters -- it's one of my favorite sporting events -- but they lay it on a little thick at times. Kenny Loggins is a second cousin to Dave. Believe it or not, I'm not a golf fan, so I'm don't remember the Masters Music. No problem Chi. I think golf fans are a minority on the forum. I'm a horse racing fan. That's an even smaller minority!

What we do know is that it isn't working. I doubt if more than two or three losses are on Boone...and maybe not that many. But I wonder why canning a manager is such a big deal even to people who don't think the job matters, Fans don't protest when the Yankees fire a Phil Bickford, McKinnley Moore, Tanner Tully or any of dozens of other young men who hoped to purseu a career in professional baseball. Guys get released or fired every day. And it is done because some exec doesn't "think" the guys has a future. It is part of the game. Don't know why it is so much different with a manager.

I'm surprised I did not hear JD Davis DFA news..... The only reason he's holding a roster spot right now is they don't have anyone on the 40 man that they're interested in bringing up to help. If they add someone they want to keep long term to the 40 man, it limits their options at the TDL. Either way, I don't think he'll be on the roster on August 1. I wonder if the Yankees would be interested in Ty France, he was designated for assignment a few day ago. In my opinion, he would be an upgrade over Davis.

The Red Sox extended Cora for another 3 years, so everyone calling for him to replace Boone will have to find another option. While I don't think that changing managers will make a difference because the problem with the Yankees is that they need to address their roster flaws.
But...If the Yankees don't snap out of this slump or if they exit early in the postseason, my guess is that Hal will replace Boone with Beltran.

So far, Sevy is vindicated. If the Yankees are trash talking, I don't understand why they need to do that. There's no good reason to give another team billboard material and motivate them. The Yankees should do their talking on the field.
