Boone needs to be fired. Won't fire Cashman. Can't dump the players. Someone needs to pay for this mess. Boone will be the scapegoat BUT someone's head must roll. The team needs a fire lit under their ass. The only one in the clubhouse that might be able to do that is Stroman. It's a clubhouse, not the barracks scene in the movie Full Metal Jacket.

Stanton is the team's DH and the DH's main priority is driving in runs. Stanton has 18 HR's and 45 RBI's in just 260 at bats, once you look past the super DH's, like Ohtani and Ozuna, that's very good production.

The Yankees have a cheapskate owner who already blew the money he's willing to spend, on an ace, a superstar RF, and an aging, always hurt .230 hitter. There's no money left to sign Soto. That means for 2025, instead of "only 2 hitters on the team" (as Sevi so truthfully put it), there will be 1. What a mess the Yankees organization has become. You know soon there will be drivers in New York, who weren't even born the last time the Yankees won a world championship! How sad is that? Cheapskate owner that has the 2nd highest payroll (307,242,793) in MLB, the same owner who's still getting more out of his money than the Mets who have the highest payroll (313,112,204).

Imagine if "The Boss" was still running the team. How would he react to this mess? I imagine he would probably fire Boone, maybe Cashman too. Then make panic trades that would make no sense for the Yankees now or in the future.

Don't understand how Boone can possibly be held responsible for the lack of production from players. Makes absolutely no sense. You may not like it, but that's the way management is, especially in sports. Boone may not be able to help the fact that DJL and JDD are no longer major league quality players. He can, however, put guys like Wells, Volpe, and Rice in a position to succeed. He also bears some of the responsibility for guys like Torres and Verdugo not being able to break out of their funks. Positive reinforcement goes a long way, but sometimes negative reinforcement is necessary, and heck, sometimes a complete non-baseball change may flip the switch. Sometimes a closed door team meeting will do just as much as a team trip to the strip club (or something more 2024 appropriate). It's the manager's job to try things and not just sit back and say "oh, they'll come around." Boone put Rice and Volpe to bat ahead of Soto and Judge. If that's not putting players in a position to succeed, then there's no such thing.

2 weeks Stanton will be on the IL again. Does every silver lining have a cloud?

His contract is awful, but he's far from one of the problems with this team. If anything, the way the offense crumbled after he went on IL shows the opposite.

From 1982-1992 the Yankees changed managers 11 times, and they never made it to the post season.

It only lasted two innings. Every time I think about committing the ransom it will take to retain Soto I look at the career of the equally gifte MIke Trout. And I look at the issues he's had staying healthy even at relatively young ages. for sure. trout was 27 when he signed that contract and hasn't played a full season since 2020. only a year older than soto will be. and soto will certainly want at least 12 years. judge still looking great but when he does he inevitably start breaking down. same w cole who hasn't been the same since his injury. seeing a bit of a tanaka thing there.
and the poster child for this is albert pujols. compare his cardinal numbers to his angel numbers. still was a good even great player at times, but nowhere near what he was with the cards. a cautionary tale. interestingly 2019, the year trout signed that deal was his mvp season.

Stanton is a 100% negative and waste of a roster spot for someone that can play and try. We have zero depth and wasting a spot on him doesn't help.
If Stanton wants to help this team he can waive his no trade clause and go. Our Dynasty teams had a veteran guy that can come off the bench to PH and occasionally start a game. With DJL declining and playing multiple positions he could fill that role. We need a real 4th OF to give the guys a break to DH and have a real rotation.
I will never be sold on an injury prone DH that doesn't hustle.
OK...but that's not what I asked you. Care to try again? To me Stanton is a Cheerleader that might rip a HR. He offers nothing else to the team. The guy is not a winner or gamer. I don't want that around.

I don't want that around. and of course he's not going anywhere. he's untradeable and has 3 more seasons, so whether you want it or not, he's gonna be around and the likelihood of them eating any of that money until perhaps the last season is miniscule. so enjoy your misery ...

stanton's return by itself isn't gonna turn this team around but it will help. he did have decent production. can still finish w 25-30 Hrs. he'll provide protection for judge. and while he can be pitched to, opposing teams respect his bat. will lengthen the lineup, perhaps taking some pressure off gleyber and verdugo.

A belated RIP to Dave Loggins, the guy who sung "Please Come to Boston". Hey Chi -- I guess this doesn't qualify as a Wrong Thread Alert since the game thread dissolved into a music thread as it sometimes does during lousy games. Anyway, Dave Loggins also wrote the music used as the theme for The Masters tournament. The peaceful stuff that's playing while Jim Nantz goes into maudlin mode about "a tradition unlike any other." I love The Masters -- it's one of my favorite sporting events -- but they lay it on a little thick at times. Kenny Loggins is a second cousin to Dave. I have several Dave Loggins albums and while he is most known for please come to Boston, he is more than a one hit wonder. I didn't know he wrote the Masters Theme.
