Duran takes a FB above the inside corner, 1-0 Swings over a slurve down and in, 1-1 Slurve below and outside middle, rolled over to Torres again, and to quote the great Bullwinkle J. Mooose: "This time, for sure!!". Stays down on it, fields, throws out Duran, and the Yanks get a genuine solid win of the game, and a surprise win of the series after the chaos of the first 16 innings or so.
Yanks win their 2nd in a row (Lou Brown: if we win tomorrow, that's called a winning streak. It has happened before"), getting back to 17 over .500 at 62-45. They stay within one game of the O's, move 5 1/2 up on the Sox, stay 8 ahead of the Rays and 12 ahead of the Jays, as it's the Sox, for a change, who lose a game to the whole division.

Wish they could have won on friday but I'll take it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk One Holmes meltdown away from a sweep.

"...not into all this rigamarole just to watch a game." LOL...Haven't heard that word used in a long, long time. I had to Google it for the correct spelling. How ya been Lola...spend the summer in Maine?

only saw an inning but for the most part looks like a tidy win. other than the back-to-backs looks like a strong start. two rbis for both gleyber and ocab. verdugo has come alive. 7-15 for the series. wells up to .241 on a 10-21 run. jazz brings some energy. stanton returns tomorrow we ain't dead yet ...

If some of these guys wake from their long slumbers (Verdugo & Volpe appear to be), and we get some pitching reinforcement, we might be okay. Happy to get Stanton back, hopefully it doesn't take him too long to get re-acclimated. The bullpen still feels like a fatal flaw, but if we can add an arm or two, I might feel better...especially one to pitch the ninth, I just have almost no faith in Holmes anymore.

Stars of the game...HM to Verdugo for the leadoff double, starting the first inning rally, 2 hits, and 2 runs, Judge for 2 hits and 2 runs, and Cabrera for the two run double in the 8th that broke the game open.
3rd star: Torres. One sure TOOTBLAN. Maybe another. A concentration error in the 9th. All washed away by the biggest hit of the game, the two-run single in the first, picking up Chisholm, who struck out with 2nd and 3rd and 1 out. Torres big hit sent the Yanks on their way with a 3-run 1st inning off the Sox' ace, Tanner Houck. 2nd star: Wells, 2 hits, a sac fly, 2 runs scored, and received and framed well, leading his pitcher through a stumble in the 4th to make it through 1 out in the 7th. 1st star: Rodon, for his 2nd excellent start in a row, in a very adverse spot. Tough lineup, tough ballpark for a lefty, trying to win a series, dealing with crummy weather, and fighting through a terrible sequence in the 4th when he gave up back-to-back HRs and nearly a 3rd to Devers, striking out O'Neill, getting Gonzales to ground right to Volpe with the infield in and striking out Rafela. Possibly his finest moment of the season in his worst inning of the game.

Great. We have to get through a FOX game, an ESPN game, and now tomorrow is an Amazon Game?

I had to Google it for the correct spelling. How ya been Lola...spend the summer in Maine? I was up in Maine in June... spending a lot of time dts (down the shore). We're in the process of building a house here at the Jersey shore. I'm hoping to get back up to Maine next week. How are you doing Bob?
