How ya been Lola...spend the summer in Maine? I was up in Maine in June... spending a lot of time dts (down the shore). We're in the process of building a house here at the Jersey shore. I'm hoping to get back up to Maine next week. How are you doing Bob? I'm good. Good to see you here. Lots of ex-YES posters came over...no JPEP yet. At least that I know of....

He's enjoying his retirement in SC...maybe he'll show up one day. Luv posted a bit early on, haven't seen him since. Not sure about Mo.

The Yanks go from a tough series in Fenway against the Sox to an even tougher one against the Phillies, the best team in MLB, who just dropped 2 of 3 to the Guardians. The Phils didn't save their top 3 starters for "the best team in the AL". Oh, no, they saved Wheeler, Nola and Cristopher Sanchez for the Yanks.
The first game is 6:40 pm on Prime Delayed Video, Monday instead of the usual Wednesday Game of the Week. 3rd straight game not on YES. Luis Gil (10-5, 3.10 ERA), looking for his 4th excellent start in a row since he started featuring his improved slider, goes of the Yanks. He's lucky enough to face a pitcher who's on the short list for the best starter in all of MLB, Zack Wheeler (10-4, 2.55 ERA). Wheeler is 3rd in the NL in wins, is 7th in K's, and leads the league in ERA. He had a brief scare with a back strain just before the break, but has made an outstanding start against the Twins after it, and has given up just 6 runs in his last 5 starts over 31 2/3 innings, just 22 hits, just 1 HR, and a 34-8 K/BB ratio.
The second game doesn't get much easier. At 6:40 pm on YES, Gerrit Cole will look to get back on track after the Mets racked him up for the 2nd time this season. Cole is now 3-2 on the season with an ERA of 5.40, and has allowed 9 home runs in 35 innings. The Phils will start their excellent #2 man, Aaron Nola (11-4, 3.44 ERA). Nola is 4-0 in his last 5 starts, but has allowed 3 or 4 runs in three of them.
The series finale is 12:35 pm on YES. Nestor Cortes faces another road game in a bad pitcher's park against a top lineup. The Mets knocked him around as well last time, dropping him to 4-9 on the season with a 4.13 ERA. Cortes is now 0-5 in 11 road starts with a 6.18 ERA. Cristofer Sanchez goes for the Phillies. He's 7-6 on the season with an ERA of 3.05, 5th in the NL and leads all of MLB in fewest HR per 9 innings at just 0.235. If the Yanks can beat both Houck and Sanchez without hitting any home runs, that'll be quite the feat.
Series preview done, I'll check notifications.

Great. We have to get through a FOX game, an ESPN game, and now tomorrow is an Amazon Game? Your kidding... so annoying. I'm probably the only person on the planet who doesn't have a prime account! I don't have one either. But if they keep putting more sporting events on there, I might have to reconsider.

I think that’s how it goes… if not I’ll be pissing and moaning tomorrow…

If some of these guys wake from their long slumbers (Verdugo & Volpe appear to be), and we get some pitching reinforcement, we might be okay. Happy to get Stanton back, hopefully it doesn't take him too long to get re-acclimated. The bullpen still feels like a fatal flaw, but if we can add an arm or two, I might feel better...especially one to pitch the ninth, I just have almost no faith in Holmes anymore. Yes I agree can't keep scoring 2 runs and giving them right back over and over.

I believe Nestor last pitched on Friday in Boston not against the Mets but in either case he has been hit hard now for quite some time.

Yeah the Mets knocked around Cole, again and then Nestor struggled against Boston but still rolled his eyes as Boone came out to remove from the game.
