Looks like some of the luster is wearing off of Tonkin. Was a good story for a while, but this is the fourth straight outing he's surrendered at least 1 run. 5 run lead, let's not get silly. he got that big double play |

Takes a slider down and in, 1-0
Takes a slider inside, makes him lifts the arms, 2-0
Sinker in the zone low/away, fouled off, 2-1
Sinker outside middle, fouled, 2-2. missed a good one and is properly annoyed.
Takes his timeout.
FB tails up and away at 98
Fouls off a slider on the inside corner.
Sinker in the zone up and in, fouled off the right side.
Back leg slider that bounced, Torres not fooled, does a fine job to draw an 8-pitch walk.

Takes a slider in the zone at the top, 0-1
Sinker inside middle, topped, a chooper in front of the mound, Soto has no play at 2nd, wheels to 1st, and flips underhand from a distance, gets DJ, Torres to 2nd with 2 down. Good sac "bunt", DJ.

Waist high sinker just outside middle middle, fouled almost straight back. Sigh. 1-2
FB runs inside, taken, 2-2
Slider across the zone to the corner inside, spoiled.
Slider at the knees in the middle, takes a a HR hack...
...and amazingly gets a fly to left that just carries over the wall into the flower bed in front of the stands, 2 run HR makes it 11-4 Yanks!

I love Volpe in the 9 hole Yep, 2nd leadoff man, and with Verdugo behind, they can't stuff righties on him. Takes a lot of pressure off him. |
