OK, Yanks come from down 4-1, take the lead, blow it, take another lead in the 11th, blow that one, score again in the 12th, and with his 2nd chance to shut the Phillies down, Tonkin gets it done, striking out the last 2 hitters to secure his 4th win and get to 4-4 on the season.
Yanks win their 4th in a row, their 2nd series in a row, their 2nd series on the road in a row, their 2nd series on the road against a very good team in a row, and get back to 19 over .500 at 64-45.
O's beat the Jays, 6-2; Rays beat the MAAArlins 9-3, coming back from 3-1 down in the 5th, and the Mariners beat the Red Sox 10-6. The Yanks stay 1/2 game back of the O's, move to 6 1/2 up on the Sox, stay 8 games up on the Rays, and improve to 13 ahead of the Jays.

Tonkin is our new hit and miss closer???? I wish he would have closed it out in the 11th. That would have been a cool story to see Leiter Jr. get a win after flying from Cincy this afternoon to join his new team.

Series win vs the Orioles, 2-2 vs the Rays, Series win vs the Red Sox, Series win vs the Phillies.
Only adds up to 8-6 because of the stupid 2 Mets losses, but showing up vs good teams def helps the cause.

only saw from the 8th inning but what a crazy crazy game. gotta give the jazzman rotd. was the entire offense through 7 and then his blooper in the 12th got wells to 3B setting up gleyber for the winning sac fly. other than that really don't know how to unravel this madness. lots of contributions big & small got this done. judge 3 hits and on base 5 times has to count for something. didn't see him but warren has to get some credit for shutting it down and getting the game into the 6th after a rough start. tonkin though he allowed a run in the 11th closes it out in the 12th. a little thing but in the 11th grisham grounds to the right side getting volpe to 3B where dugo's sac fly drives him in. gleyber sac fly the winning run. madness i tell you.

Stars of the game: some goats, but a lot of heroes...HM to Verdugo for the sac fly in the 11th. Torres for the sac fly in the 12th, Grisham for the excellent catch on Bohm's sinking liner to left cener with 1st and 3rd and 2 down to force the game to the 12th.
3rd star of the game: the entire pen except for Holmes. All of them provided excellent relief work tonight, even Tonkin, who victimized himself in the 11th by throwing a WP to get the tying run to 3rd, and shutting the Phillies down in the 12th to secdure the win. 2nd star of the game: Very unusual to name the 2nd star as a pitcher who gave up 4 ER in 5 1/3, but for a major league debut, Will Warren did a fine job, on the road, emergency callup, facing one of the best lineups in baseball, and taking a crippling body shot on the 3 run HR by Hays in the 2nd, he stayed in there for until 1 out in the 6th, not allowing anything else, showing good stuff, good movment, and some grit. Good job, rookie! 1st star of the game: who else can it be? Jazz Chisholm, who had his Now You're a Yankee Moment in just his 3rd game with the team. Konocked in the 1st run of the game by beating out a double play relay in the 1st. Solo HR in the 6th to get the Yanks back within 2, pivotal 3 run HR in the 7th to give the Yanks their first lead, looked great again at 3rd, especially taking a hit away with a sliding stop to his left on a hot smash by Turner to end the 7th, bloop single in the 12th getting Wells to 3rd, and I don't know if he should be credited with trying to go to 2nd on Torres' sac fly in the 12th and making sure the throw was cut off and Wells could score, but maybe he did that too. He's been everything the Yanks could reasonably want in his first 3 games, and then some.
