Early start tomorrow as the Yanks go for the sweep, 12:35 pm start on YES.
Nestor Cortes, who the Yanks found they couldn't trade after all, gets the ball, trying desperately to find the answer on the road. He's been hit hard his last 3 starts, is 4-9 on the season with a 4.13 ERA and 0-5 with a 6.18 ERA on the road. Maybe the "reprieve from the governor" will inspire him. Christopher Sanchez starts for the Phils. He's 7-6 on the season with a solid ERA of 3.05, 6th in the NL. He was the NL Pitcher of the Month in June, and leads all of MLB with the fewest HRs per 9 innings, just 3 in 20 starts in 115 innings, for just 0.24 per 9 innings, an especially terrific figure considering his home ballpark. Yanks might need to find other ways to score, but they've been doing that better the last few games.
Game preview done, I'm sure I have a lot of notifications to look at, so I'll do that now.

yeah grisham's catch was huge.
as for holmes, yeah that spike was awful but 4 balls were very weakly hit (under 70mph) either for hits or too slow to turn two. not gonna kill gleyber on the hays grounder where he bobbled the transfer. dont think he was gonna double up hays. ball hit too slow.
in any case we win a game that based on the matchup definitely wasn't in our favor. the jazzman has absolutely supercharged this team bringing energy and cranking the volume up to 11.

OK, notifications checked, and responded to as needed, so I'm going to get going. See you tomorrow afternoon at 12:35 for the series finale, as the Yanks face an adverse matchup to get the sweep. Good night to all of you. Bye.

He really is not a likeable guy, is he? Well. For me, if I’m not feeling well or have ingested poison, he DOES induce vomiting… Sadly, he’ll die without understanding what he did wrong. Especially if he gets reinstated…

didn't see warren's start but from the highlights looks like he has good stuff. in particular that sweeper other than the hanging one to hays has a lot of movement. Ks the heart of the lineup in the 5th on his his 3rd trip through including harper a 2nd time. impressive.
4 straight wins and now series wins against the phils, red sox and O's. we're one game behind cleveland and the phillies for wins at 64. since june 9 the phillies are 20-22 and since june 13 the O's are 19-22 so both teams are stumbling. with the TDL in the rear window, it's like the season is starting all over as we're just a half game back. we didn't do as much as i wanted but did we do "enough"?

He really is not a likeable guy, is he? I watched all 4 hours of it last night. Pete Rose does belong in the HOF for his accomplishments on the field. Just let him in before he dies.
Horrible off field choices and yes he can rub many the wrong way with his hard nose attitude.

I would have taken the gamble on Flaherty at the price the Dodgers paid.
