Could that be due, at least in part, to the understanding many Yankee fans have of knowing Juan Soto could easily be a one year Yankee ? Does that add to the pressure fans feel to at least get to the WS in 2024 ? Totally but even the most optimistic fans like me do wonder if another bullpen piece and starter would have helped. Offense seems fine with jazz at 3rd now and Stanton back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I was thinking the way the bullpen has been performing won't work in the post season, but then again, they won't face lineups any better than what they face this past week in Boston and Philly and the team went 5-1.

They barley hung on yesterday and while all pens blow leads, seeing the stat that Holmes had blown 5 of 7 was staggering. Plus I think we have starting rotation issues also as I just don't trust Rodon despite his improvement over the past few starts and I am worried about Cole with this latest scratch and inconsistent performance to this point. All this said, everyone's thoughts about other teams being flawed are 100% on the mark. I just think Baltimore and the Dodgers improved more than the Yanks. Jazz has obviously been a revelation but if you show me a person who claims they thought that's what the Yankees were getting I will then show you a liar. The offensive production will obviously cool off but I am happy with how he looked at third and that we now have another base stealing threat outside of Volpe.

yup ALL teams have flaws and needs which is why after 110 games, we're tied for the most wins w the O's, guardians and phillies. dodgers just got swept by the padres (2-game series). the playing field is rather level. but of course yankee fans only see our flaws and think the other team's grass is greener. certainly think we coulda, shoulda done more at the TDL but the moves he did make should help. whether it's enough. we have 52 games to find out ... Could that be due, at least in part, to the understanding many Yankee fans have of knowing Juan Soto could easily be a one year Yankee ? Plan A: Should be to re-sign Soto.
If they can't re-sign Soto the Yankees......
Plan B: Should be to sign Burnes and Santander.
Plan B would not only add a switch hitting power hitter and a top of the rotation pitcher to the Yankees, but at the same time the Yankees would take both those players from their division rival. The same division rival that also happens to be built to contend for many seasons.

If Dominguez is not on the Opening Day roster in '25 I will be disappointed. I am sure we will be kicking this stuff around all offseason. Does Chisholm return to 2nd ? How about CF ? Can DJ reassert himself to be the regular at 3rd for 25 ? Will Torres and Verdugo be with the Yankees ? There will be lots ot talk about...but we can do this season first.

I think eventually Dominguez is going to be promoted this season. If the Yankees trade or sign a 3Bman, I think Jazz will be the Yankees 2Bman next season.
If the Yankees don't sign a 3Bman, Jazz would be their 3Bman. DJ/Jorbit plays 2B.
Depending on who's pitching against them, I think the Yankees might mix and match use DJ as their super utility player(1B,2B,3B). If by any chance Peraza starts to hit, well then that give the Yankees even more options. I think Jazz will be a Yankee, Vedugo and Torres won't be Yankees because of Luxury Tax reasons, especially if Soto is re-signed.
CF? That depends if Soto is re-signed. If he re-signs then Dominguez is the CFer and Judge is the LFer. If Soto doesn't re-sign, as I mentioned before the Yankees should try to sign Santander.

I don't think DJ can handle 2B. He'll likely platoon/spell whomever the LH 1B is (Rice?). Chisholm has looked very good at 3B. I'd expect him to stay there with a prospect taking over at 2B.

like the idea of both but since i'm a pitching guy, i'm signing burnes first. as much as i like santander, he & burnes will cost to $25-30 mil each which might too rich for hal and makes the team very top heavy payroll wise. looking for dominquez to take one of the OF slots. don't see either verdugo on the team next season. jazz slots in at 2B. 3B & 1B still question marks. hopefully rice earns a spot. guess DJ slots in at both. but agree w pat, we still have a season to get through.

The reason I mentioned the Yankees trying to sign both Burnes and Santander is because they have a lot of money coming off their books if they don't re-sign Soto, Torres, Verdugo, Holmes, Tommy K. Except for Soto it looks like the Yankees have prospects to take the place of their other 2025 free agents.
