Yanks fail to capitalize on an O's loss...or, the story of the last two months.
On to the next one...

Let's see what Boone has to say about Gleyber on the postgame. "It's right in front of him."

What a disappointing loss, it's hard to get on a roll when one of your starters can't go more than 4 innings.

Verdugo takes a sinker backing over the inner 3rd above the waist, 0-1 Fb misses high on the corner away, 1-1 FB near the top in the middle, Verudgo under it, fouls it back, 1-2 Slider in the zone down and in, Verdugo somehow swings under it, K, 1 down. We got two pitchers in the rotation that depend on okie-dokie to be successful. That’s not going to cut it.

Judge takes a waist high FB inner 3rd, 0-1 Takes a slider waist high, well outside, 1-1 Takes a slider 4-5 inches outside, thigh high, 2-1 Swings over a slider below and inside middle, 2-2 Takes his timeout. Slider starts outside, letting Judge easily take, 3-2 Have no idea what Judge was looking for, takes a FB inside of middle middle for the ꓘ. Green strikes out the side on 16 pitches the last two were ꓘ's against Soto and Judge.
Yanks lose 8-5, blowing a change to take over 1st. The 5-game win streak is snapped, and they're back down to 19 games over .500 at 65-46.
They're still tied with the O's, 5 1/2 up on the Sox, 8 up on the Rays and 13 1/2 up on the Jays.
Yanks did nothing against the reputedly terrible Jays' pen, getting just 2 hits and BB with 4 K's against Cabrera, Little and Pop, who came in with ERAs of 3.59, 4.32 and 5.40, even before Green came in and slammed the door shut.

Let's see what Boone has to say about Gleyber on the postgame. I get why Boone pulled Gleyber but someone should ask Boone why for several years guys like Donaldson, Rizzo and Verdugo can dog it but only Torres gets benched.

You can survive that way in the post-season because of the off days; one of those guys goes to the pen, or is dropped from the staff. In the regular season, you're up against it 2 games out of every 5.

Game 2 is tomorrow afternoon at 1:07. Jose Berrios, who usually has problems with the Yanks but threw an excellent 7 inning start against them in alte June in Toronto goes for the Jays, he's 9-8 on the season with a 3.93 ERA. He pitched 7 shutout innings with just 3 hits in a BB against the Rangers last time, after 4 straight poor starts. Carlos Rodon tries to even the series, and make it 3 good games in a row. He's 11-7 with a 4.34 ERA on the season.
OK, game preview done, I go to check notifications.

OK, notifications checked, I'm going to get going. It's an afternoon game tomorrow, and I have the preview and Saturday Leaders to get done before it. So I'll say good night to all of you; see you for Berrios vs. Rodon. Bye.

Here's my far fetched fantasy: Sometime later this month, the timeline resets and everyone goes back to April playing waaaaay over their heads and the Yanks go on a magnificent run through the end of October grabbing ring #28. I mean they played .708 ball through 2.5 months and 72 games, surely they can bookend the season that way, right?

He said he everyone will ask why this one why that one. People don't have full info on everyone. "I just felt this way on this one. that's it. no more questions on this."
He didn't elaborate or say anything of substance. And Jack Curry is ripping him for it.

A very defensive answer.
