He said he everyone will ask why this one why that one. People don't have full info on everyone. "I just felt this way on this one. that's it. no more questions on this."
He didn't elaborate or say anything of substance. And Jack Curry is ripping him for it.

Gleyber in his interview said he was sorry. He made a mistake. He just thought it was a HR. He said Boone made the right decision.

Somehow Boone taking Gleyber out of the game seems pale when compared to Billy Martin taking Reggie out! Martin took Reggie out during the inning for the sole purpose of embarrassing him on national TV. Even though Reggie was already an established super-star, who knows if Billy's action that day actually managed to light a fire for Reggie, leading to him eventually being labeled as Mr. October as a result. After all, no one wants to be embarrassed that way, especially on national television. I seriously doubt what Boone did will do anything for Gleyber though, who just seems to have poor judgement with a lot of the plays he's involved with. You would think that knowing his contract is up this year, he would at least be trying 100% of the time, instead of all his showboating and lackadaisical plays. I don't get it. |

no problem w boone's response. he talked about it for a good 2 minutes and felt he said all that he wanted to. everything situation is different. perhaps it was a cumulative thing w gleyber and that was the straw. it might have cost us a run (after volpe's double) and saved the out at the plate. maybe the inning continues.
interesting that folks here are killing boone because gleyber's "hustle" or lack of is one of the more discussed topics here and complain about boone not being tougher on the players.
gleyber was stand-up and contrite in his post-game. instead of hiding, he did come back out to the dugout to support his teammates. hopefully he learned from it and maybe we see a better gleyber moving forward.

as for the game, just a terrible performance by stroman. put us in a big hole. needs to find it or else he could be the odd man out particularly when schmidt returns.
offense got us back in but ultimately fell short. judge continues to be a beast. 40/101 beginning of august. wow ... volpe continued his hot hitting since the break. wells also continued his good run. stanton's double hopefully means he's getting near. gleyber had a good AB just missing a HR. maybe tonight is a page turner for him. jazz K'ed twice in his YS debut and after a nice run verdugo had a terrible game w 3 Ks.

Hopefully this sends a message to the rest of the team! There is NO excuse for not hustling... ALL the time! It's the managers job to make sure his team is clear on this! |

You can't win with Yankee fans ... Boone's too soft , wait he's too tough Gleyber needs to be benched for not hustling ... Wait why would you bench Gleyber for not hustling?!?!? Player's should do anything to help the team! ... Wait why should they have to play out of position?!?!? That's not fair to players in their walk year! It's actually sickening |

What some of us want to know is why does Boone cheery pick who he calls out and benches. The next Verdugo jogs down the line, is he getting pulled or just a different "situation." |
