no problem w boone's response. he talked about it for a good 2 minutes and felt he said all that he wanted to. everything situation is different. perhaps it was a cumulative thing w gleyber and that was the straw. it might have cost us a run (after volpe's double) and saved the out at the plate. maybe the inning continues.
interesting that folks here are killing boone because gleyber's "hustle" or lack of is one of the more discussed topics here and complain about boone not being tougher on the players.
gleyber was stand-up and contrite in his post-game. instead of hiding, he did come back out to the dugout to support his teammates. hopefully he learned from it and maybe we see a better gleyber moving forward.
What some of us want to know is why does Boone cheery pick who he calls out and benches. The next Verdugo jogs down the line, is he getting pulled or just a different "situation." and maybe he's next. like azbob said, there's no yankee who's been under more scrutiny than gleyber. he cost us a run and an out probably pushed boone over the edge. again i'm surprised by all the "sympathy" gleyber's getting here because there's no one who gets thrown under the bus more on this forum. gleyber understood. and boone gets a lot of heat here for being "soft" on his players. and when he does something, it's why is he picking on gleyber. can't win. pretty sure after the gleyber benching, every player is gonna run out every play. |

Don't get me wrong, I agree with benching Gleyber. I just think Boone looks like hypocrite when he's benched Gleyber twice this season, but at the same time allowed other players on the team to consistently get away with the same stuff. |
