Same sharp diving sinker, takes this one, 1-2 Sinker dives way inside at 96, Stanton chases and swings over. If you're wondering why Stanton chased the 2nd and 4th pitches, it's because he's older, has less bat speed, has to start eariier, has never seen Pop before, so his explosive 2 plane sinker at 96-7 is an overmatch, the kind of sinker Holmes throws when he's going his best. And maybe a little better than most of Holmes' sinkers these days.
Inning over. Top 6, 2-0 Jays. 4-5-6 for the Jays: Horwitz, Varsho and Kirk.

Change clips the corenr inside, not called, 1-0. Maybe 10% on Gameday. Cutter dives inside, taken, 2-0 Takes a curve dropping just outside middle, puts his bat down as if he should've swung and didn't, 2-1 Curve a bit higher, also taken, 2-2 FB outside, chased and fouled. Slider on the outer 3rd, spoiled FB humped up to 98, misses high, taken, 3-2 Fb in not a great spot, below and inside middle, but Horwitz doesn't connect, pops to Grisham in center. Weaver warming in the bullpen.

FB misses high, outer half, ball 1 on Varsho. Gets under a curve, hangs up and away, 2-0 Curve catches the knees at the very bottom, not called, 20% on Gameday so maybe a bad call there, 3-0 FB just below the corner up and away, Varsho takes, 3-1 Cutter inside middle fouled, 3-2 FB waist high, 3-4 inches outside, chases for the K, 2 down.
And that's it for Cole, done after 91 pitches and 5 2/3. Maybe a wise precaution after his early struggles, and coming up the stomach bug I just found out he had that almost certainly caused him to skip the start against the Philies. Good job, kept it together and didn't allow the Jays to break it open early when he had little command of anything.
Weaver in to face Kirk, and the Yanks hope he can get through the 7th as well.

Weaver misses well high with a FB, outer half, 1-0 on Kirk. Cutter starts at him, breaks into the zone up and in near the corner, 1-1 FB just outside, foul tipped, 1-2 No, it wouldn't, Kay. He won't throw near as hard, and being able to hit 95-7 regularly is why he's been mostly effective as a reliever. Change dives outside, taken, 2-2 Change in the zone below and inside middle, grounded sharply to 3rd, Chisholm right there, fields and throws him out, inning over. 100.4 mph on that grounder.
Bottom 6, 2-0 Jays. Chisholm, Volpe and Grisham for the Yanks in their half of the 6th.
