Imagine the legendary voice of Bob Shepard, "now batting the third baseman, number H$, Inger, number H$.

I wish the Yankees had continued to have the success they enjoyed under Joe Torre so that this was a much more pressing issue !!

Imagine the legendary voice of Bob Shepard, "now batting the third baseman, number H$, Inger, number H$. Maybe we can issue different color numbers…

Imagine the legendary voice of Bob Shepard, "now batting the third baseman, number H$, Inger, number H$. When Sheppard was still announcing the Yankee lineups in 2007, I told my wife and kids that he was the Yankee Stadium PA announcer when I was a kid...literally a kid; an infant.

Love what they meant to NY but 6, 20, 21, 46, 51 all could've been handled out.
9 Should also be retired for Nettles.

Reggie didn't play here long enough, so unretire #44. I agree with you on Paulie's #21 and I was a big O'Neill fan, but Jorge, Bernie and Andy all deserved the honor, in my humble opinion.

44 is such a borderline thing. Short time with Yankees but great career. Personally I wouldn't

I'm lukewarm on O'Neill, Jorge, Bernie and Andy. Agree with you wholeheartedly that 1, 6, 27 and 44 should not be retired.

In the grander scheme of things, none of this really matters to me…
