…as players???
I’ll give you an example. Ichiro Suzuki is the biggest one that comes to mind (although I don’t think he exactly sucked as a Yankee, he was just past his peak in prime), loved Ichiro growing up as he was one of my favorite baseball players…just a shame we couldn’t have prime Ichiro.
Same thing with Randy Johnson, loved him as a pitcher and admire him as a human being, but it’s a shame he came to the Yanks so late in his career and couldn’t quite cut-it in pinstripes (although by that point, he wasn’t exactly someone we could totally depend on either).

I think Randy Johnson didn’t deserve the grief he received. After all, though he needed back surgery, didn’t he beat Boston six times? I also am an apologist for Hideki Irabu.

What's with all these "new" members making these "favorite" posts lately? Two were already banned.

I’m completely new here and the moderator and creator of this board can check my IP address to verify that. And like I said in an earlier post on the new members thread, I may not have much to contribute here other than sharing knowledge of past players who have played for the Yanks and sharing love for the rich history this team we all love has.

I have 2. 1 came to NY with very high expectations and was sadly sidetracked by injury. The other came up through the system and after a fast start disappointed for a few reasons.
1. Don Gullett 2. Kevin Maas

Kevin Maas Good get on Gullett. Guidry and Gullett would have been a nice combo at the top of the rotation, if not for injuries.

Ichiro - loved him as a player, but disappointed we didn't get to see him in pinstripes until he was 38 and a husk of prime Ichiro.
Hensley "Bam Bam" Meulens - one time Yankees uber-prospect, never got his footing in MLB, but I remember the hype. He seemed immensely likable, always had a smile on his face.

I'd have to say Shelley Duncan. Sure he went other places to try to be on an MLB roster but this guy was a Yankee through and through.
