Stanton takes a curve on the corner for a strike A curve hangs inside corner, gets the hands in, he serves it up the middle for a hit, Verdugo scores, and Soto stops at 2nd down by 6. 9-3 Angels.

Wells takes a FB in the zone up and away, 0-1 Slider on the inside corner, fouled, 0-2
Oh, forgot one...Mazeroski is in the Hall for two reasons, the famous HR that won the Series in 1960, and he's generally considered the Ozzie Smith of 2nd baseman, the best defenisve 2nd baseman in MLB history.
Curve loow, fouled off. Slider inside, also fouled FB at the top at 98, spoiled Slider in the zone down and in, golfed to the corner in right, dies on the track, Adell gets there, inning over. 6th near HR of the game for the Yanks.
Top 9, 9-3 Angels. Rendon, Adell and Drury for the Angels in the 9th.

Regarding Willie and the Hall of Fame. I'll sum up.
First of all, people who know me know I'm a tough Hall of Fame grader. Having said that, there aas no one who, when Willie was playing, thought he was worth more than a passing thought as a Hall of Famer. No one who thought that, at any time he played, he was the best 2nd baseman in baseball. No one thought he was even the best defensive 2nd baseman of his time. That was Frank White.
He made just 6 all-star teams, got downballot MVP votes in just 2 seasons, won just 1 Gold Glove. Like Willie? Sure, a lot. Good player for a long time? Yes, absolutely. Hall of Famer? Nope, and not close, really.

Kahnle in for the 9th.
Rendon works the count to 2-1, rolls over on a change to 3rd, Chisholm makes a nifty pick, throws him out, 1 down.

Adell takes a change high, 1-0 Takes a change outside called a strike anway, bad call, but so what? 1-1 Change inside jams him, bounced back to Kahnle, 2 down.

I also think he got in because his buddies on the vet's committee wanted him in, the same way Scooter and Harold Baines got in. Willie Randolph probably wasn't a HOF'er but he was really good for a long stretch.

Drury fouols off a change on the outer 3rd, 0-1 Loses a change up and in, Drury dives out of the way.
I can't wait for the Yanks to face Joyce, who throws 100-105 in this mist/rain, with a wet hand. That oughta be fun, hunh? Change misses outside, called a strike anyway, 1-1. Another bad call there, but...meh. Change just outside, waist high, fouled Change about 18 inches outside, ball 2. Just call the freaking game already. No need for anyone to get seriously hurt. FB well outside, 3-2. Change dives to the knees, fouled off 3rd. Change well outside, chased and popped to short right, Soto calls of Torres, fights the rain and poor visibility and falls to his knees and over as he lunges late to catch, inning over.
Bottom 9, 9-3 Angels.
Cabrera, Chisholm and DJ in the 9th for the Yanks.

I agree: despite his defensive record, which is truly outstanding, best ever pivot man and all that, he probably shouldn't be in the Hall. Rather take him out than put Willie in, but you can't do that.
