Yesterday, the Yanks and the Rangers were rained out, setting up today's double-header.
In other AL East action yesterday...at the StupidDome™ in Tampa, Zack Eflin dominated his former team with 7 innings of 4-hit, 1 BB, shutout ball with 7 K's, and Caleb Cowser lead off the game with a HR, O'Hearn hit a 2-run single in the 5th, and Mullins added a solo shot in the 7th, and the O's beat the Rays 4-1. Cano gave up a solo HR to new Ray Dylan Carlson in the 9th, but closed things out. Eflin finally made it back over .500 at 8-7, and his fellow Zack, Littell, took the loss to drop to 5-8. At Rogers Centre, Jose Berrios rebounded from his lousy start against the Yanks a week ago by throwing 7 innings of 1-run ball with 8 K's, and George Springer and Spencer Horwitz hit solo HR's to lead the Jays to a 3-1 win over the A's. Mitch Spence took the loss to drop to 7-8, Berrios impoved to 10-9, and Chad Green threw a 1-2-3 ninth for his 11th save. At Fenway Park, the Sox head a 3-1 lead over the Astros into the 7th inning, but Jose Altuve tied the game with his 15th HR, and Singleton and Pena added RBI singles to give the Astros a 5-3 lead. In the 9th, the Astros got a 2-run HR from Yainer Diaz in a 3-run rally that put the game away, and the Astros won 8-4. Ronel Blanco didn't last long enough for the W, so reliever Kaleb Ort, who pitched the bottom of the 6th for Houston was the winner, his first decision of the season. Tanner Houck bounced back from his recent poor pitching to throw 6 innings of 1-run ball, but new relief pickup Lucas Sims gave up the 4-run rally in the 7th to get both a blown save and his 5th loss of the season against 1 win.
Going into today's games, the O's are back in 1st by 1/2 game over the Yanks. The Sox are 6 1/2 back and 6 behind the Yanks. The Rays are 10 out of 1st and 9 1/2 behind the Yanks, and the Jays 14 1/2 out and 14 behind New York.

Elsewhere in the AL East today...The Jays and A's play the 2nd game of their series in Toronto at 3:07 pm. Osvaldo Bido (2-3, 4.63 ERA) makes his 5th start for the A's; He took a tough loss against the Dodgers last time out. Yariel Rodriguez (1-4, 3.86 ERA) pitches for Toronto, he's coming off 4 2/3 shutout innings against the Yanks 6 days ago in a game the Jays lost on LeMahieu's walk off single against Francis in the 10th. The Astros and Red Sox play the middle game of their series in Fenway at 4:10 pm. Spencer Arighetti (5-10, 5.43 ERA) starts for Houston; he's 0-3 in his last 5 starts despite pitching fairly well with an ERA of 3.72. Nick Pivetta (5-7, 4.44 ERA) starts for Boston; he's 1-1 in his last 3 starts, but with an ERA of nearly 8.00. And at 7:15 pm in Tampa, he O's and Rays play the 2nd game of their series at the AwfulDome™. O's ace Corbin Burnes (12-4, 2.63 ERA, 2nd in the AL) starts for the O's, he's been a bit off lately, but it hasn't cost him much, he's 3-0 in his last 4 starts with a 3.60 ERA, even winning his last start against Cleveland despite giving up 5 runs in 5 innings. The Rays finally activated former ace Drew Rasmussen (0-0, 0.00 ERA) of the IL for his first game in relief, he threw 28 pitches 3 days ago against the Cards, and as his pitchcount did not reach 40 in any of the 5 minor league games he pitched in before that, it seems he'll be a glorified "opener", maybe good for 40-45 pitches. He had been on the IL after getting internal brace surgery to repair a flexor tendon injury after throwing back-to-back starts against the Yanks, combining for 12 2/3 scoreless inning with just 4 hits allowed, in early May of last year.
And, in the opener at 1:07 pm at the Stadium, it's Eovaldi vs. Cole.

Listening to hear Susyan and Carton in the booth. This is so frustrating with Stanton. He doesn't play the field. He doesn't hustle or run at 100%. Now he can't DH consecutive days? What am I missing? Is resting Judge at DH and forcing Grisham in there more important.

What am I missing? Is resting Judge at DH and forcing Grisham in there more important. You're missing the fact that the Rangers are starting a righty in the first game, and a lefty in the 2nd game. So the powers that be know that Stanton won't play both, giving the first game to Grisham against the righty and the second game to Statnon against Bradford, who's a lefty.
