OK, notifications checked and responded to, I'm going to get going; dinner awaits. Somewhere. So I'll say good evening to all; see you tomorrow afternoon in the next game thread. Bye for now.

Maybe I missed it, but was there a reason to take Cole out of the game with 1 out in the 6th?

Maybe I missed it, but was there a reason to take Cole out of the game with 1 out in the 6th? They were questioning that decision in the booth. I didn't see the postgame. Maybe Boone gave a reason but it was questionable to me.

Hope your family function was more enjoyable than this game, Chi!

good lord major bullpen implosion. was 1-1 bottom 5th. when i next checked - 8th inning 9-1. what the hell happened?! looks like the chief arsonist was luke weaver. 5 runs in 1/3. as qwik pointed out, not gonna help his era. such is the life of a reliever. tonkin added more fuel to the fire. some of the fairy dust has worn off as he's been up & down lately w a 4.67 over the last month or so.
amazing what two 0-fer double headers will do. volpe quickly 0-19. on the positive side, jazz has found his YS stroke with HRs in 3 straight. and in the too little too late category, but maybe stanton is finding his stroke. smoked 3 balls w exit velos of 110+. wells the hitting star of game 1. maybe he's found a home batting behind judge. still can win the series tomorrow.

It was good. Once I saw the score was 5-1, I stopped checking updates.

Maybe I missed it, but was there a reason to take Cole out of the game with 1 out in the 6th? None at all. 90 pitches. 19 less than Gil the day before. 3 less than Cole threw in his previous outing. Boone is a bizarre man…

Maybe Boone gave a reason but it was questionable to me. didn't see the game but according to boone they had a 90 pitch limit they weren't messing with, which i'm sure was made in consultation w the coaching & training staff. in his post-game cole didn't seem to have a problem with it.
sometimes you have to see the big picture. they're building cole up slowly (clearly slower than fans would want). they don't wanna take a chance of blowing him out with hopefully bigger games on the horizon. weaver has probably been our most reliable arm out of the pen and for whatever reason had his worst outing of the season. he could have had the same outing even if cole finished the 6th and came in say the 7th. you have to be able to count on your guys to get the job done and neither weaver or tonkin did the job whether it's w one out in the 6th or starting the 7th.

Boone is a bizarre man… There was a woman at the Olympics that in a 6 day stretch won medals in the 5K and 10K and just this morning won the woman's marathon. Cole left a game after only 90 pitches because he had a cold last week. I give credit to Rodon, he's a competitor and gets mad when Boone takes him out of a game. He want to compete.

Weaver walks Kelly on 4 pitches with the bases loaded to give up a run.
He was batting 9th in the Rangers lineup too.

I don't like doubleheaders, 2 games series, and 4 games series. I don't know what the stats say, but it seems like most of the time teams split those doubleheaders/series.

I feel like any of those situations you said are almost a guaranteed loss in that series of at least one game. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
