Tries to jump a first pitch FB, unfortunately it's a change tailing away, swung and a miss.
There's the FB he wanted, waist high sinker, inner 3rd, but he takes it, 0-2
Change at the knees inside middle, hit sharply to Lowe, gets the force at 2nd, but Chisholm too fast, beats the relay, 1st and 3rd, 2 down for the ice-cold Volpe.

Bad to opening up early,flails at a slider diving outside, and his slump has messed with his head enough now that he's bad to all the bad habits of the long slump in of June and last the first half of July.
He needs a day off and I hope Boone gives him one. Let Oswaldo get a game there.

Soto's 30th HR and 2nd of the game: 106.6 mph, 406 feet, 28° launch angle, a HR in 51 of 30 parks.
Judge's 42nd HR: 108.4 mph, 374 feet, 37° launch angle, a HR in just 3 of 30 parks, which I find hard to believe, it was 10 rows back in the seats.

Leiter comes in for the 8th.
Langford fouls off a sinker down and in.
Takes his timeout
Takes a slider bounced near the corner away, 1-1
Swings over a curve going 4-5 inches low in the middle, 1-2
Gives him the splitter, but it was outside, so hitters don't chase that. Needs to be over the plate to get a chase.
Splitter bounced even further outside and the count goes to 3-2.
Langford guesses splitter by count and location, takes a sinker backing into the zone low and away for a ꓘ, 1 down.
Really good sequencing, has to throw a strike there with 5 run lead and throws a sinker that looks like the 2 splitters just before coming out of his hand.

Bad location on the curve above middle, fouled off. 1-2
Gets the splitter diving toward the corner low/away, spoils it.
Splitter down and in, but stays in the zone at the knees, and Lowe drops the bat on it, crushed it out to deep right, solo HR and the Rangers strike right back, 8-4 Yanks now.

Sinker tails inside, Garcia fouls it off 1st.
Finally gets the splitter over the plate AND well low, and that's how you get major league hitters to chase for K's. 2 down.

Leiter has been a really solid addition, just didn't get that one where he wanted it. Big leaguers make you pay.
