He's not a free agent until 2027. He can be nontendered at the end of the season. He needs to be tendered to the mouth of an active volcano.

In my opinion, that was the the biggest upset loss in the south side of Chicago since Bad Bad Leroy Brown lost a fight.

Maybe he needs a coffee break to help him get some energy back into his game.

He could've K'd or worse, GIDP. Had he gotten it down it would've been runners on 2nd-3rd with Soto coming to the plate. So you are telling me that Verdugo has no confidence in his ability to drive in runs ? He is happy to leave that to Soto and Judge ? Is he buying a ticket to see the game ? I've seen guys bunt into DPs...I suspect you have too. If the moment was too big for him, he should leave the bat in the rack and walk to the plate with the scorecard. You can't hit that way but you might get some autorgraphs from real players. No…I’m not telling you “that Verdugo has no confidence in his ability to drive in runs” He’s done it 50 times so far this year. He obviously decided to make one attempt to load the bases with a successful bunt hit, or at least move both runners into scoring position while avoiding a possible GIDP, setting the table for Soto, who’s been even more productive driving in runs. Didn’t work. That doesn't make him a "stupid player" or, as you've apparently suggested, not a "real player".

Yes..."worse case 2nd & 3rd w one out" with Soto coming to the plate, or best case, bases loaded with Soto at the plate...had he gotten it down. Just didn't execute. If you are playing for a run against one of the worst teams in MLB hstory ... you deserve to lose 12-2 IIR, he was playing for 2 runs in a 6-2 game at the time…

It's a cherry-picked stat, like most stats, but to illustrate how unusual last night's game was -- according to ESPN, the last time a team with the best record in baseball lost to a team with the worst record in baseball by at least 10 runs in July or later was in 1934, when again it was the White Sox beating Detroit 11-0. In fact that is the only other time in baseball history (since 1900) that that has happened.
At least we can console ourselves with witnessing baseball history.

Do people still read newspapers? When I was in New York in June, the only time I saw one was at the airport.

You didnt watch the Game, you didnt read about the games, but you came here to tell everybody that Verdugo did the right thing ??? Verdugo wasn't bunting for a hit ... he lasily squared and popped it to the pitcher The pitcher had just walked his 6th batter in 3.0 innings ... 2 of the 6 were Verdugo is his first 2 ABs !?!?! Said Verdugo "“I kind of didn’t really want to bunt, but I was already kind of out there,” Verdugo said. "I just got a little lazy with it and popped it up". 1st and 2nd nobody out top of the 4th and you have the top of the order coming up ... You not what you dont do ... Bunt !!!!Here is a link so you can get caught up Alex Verdugo poorly defends lazy bunt attempt in Yankees' embarrassing loss www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/new-york-yankees/news/alex-verdugo-poorly-defends-lazy-bunt-attempt-yankees-embarrassing-loss/8f890d67d2aeb43f0e028ddd

If the same thing had been done by a reserve catcher or a bench player who did not see regular action I'd understand. But not from a guy who gets in the linuep every day over Grisham becase of his "bat". This team isn't going anywhere if the linuep is going to wait for Soto and Judge to do all the work. I thought Cashman made a good move when he brought in Verdugo. The more I've seen of him, the more I understand why the Red Sox were happy to move on. PS: Will you agree with me that instead of watching the bunt go up in the air Verdugo should have run to first ?

I remember walking around a city, like New York and Chicago and there would newspaper vendor boxes on all the street corners, seeing that same headline over and over again. It doesn't leave the same impression on line.

You didnt watch the Game, you didnt read about the games, but you came here to tell everybody that Verdugo did the right thing ??? You obviously have a serious ongoing reading comprehension problem. Nowhere have I said "Verdugo did the right thing", or "tell everybody" anything. And nowhere did I say I didn't watch the game, or read about the game. I said I didn't see the play. Capisce???
