Trevino takes a sweeper that backs up outside, ball 1. Fouls off sinker that missed inside, 1-1 Change hangs outside, 2-1 Sinker stays outside near the top, 3-1 Sinker down the middle, and again, a Yankees hitter gets the top half of the ball, pulling it sharply but right to Jung, fields, throws him out, 2 down.

Okay, sports fans, in the strange trade vein of our old friend Karl from Pinstripes Plus: Anthony Volpe and Luis Gil for Bobby Witt, Jr.? What say you?

Its Lee Harvey Oswald as in Oswald Peraza.
Give me a better idea and I'll make it!

Slider at the knees, inner half, DJ uses all his remaining power to lift a routine fly to fairly deep left, Malloy moves a few steps to his left, catches, inning over.
Another easy 1-2-3 for Hurter, he throws 6 innings of 2 run ball on just 78 pitches, the solo HRs by Peraza and Judge the only blemishes.
Bottom 9, Holmes coming in to try to close it out. Due in for the Tigers in the 9th: Jung, Malloy and McKinstry. Jung and Malloy haven't faced Holmes; McKinstry is 1-2 with a double and 1 K.

Game is far from Holmes proofed. Hope he's got it tonight.

Slider starts high, bends into the top of the zone, taken for the ꓘ, 1 down. 25% on Gameday. Hinch yelling about the strike zone, and he'd be right on a lot of calls, but not that one.

Game is far from Holmes proofed. Hope he's got it tonight. Paradoxically, if it were Holmes-proofed, he might not be in the game. Malloy... Takes a Slider maybe an inch high, innere 3rd, 1-0 Takes a sinker above and inside middle, 1-1 Slider to the knees, outer 3rd swung on and missed, 1-2 Slider outside, knee high, 2-2 Bad hanging sweeper above middle, hammered down the left side, but well foul Sinker above the knees, outside middle, bounced just foul off 3rd. Sinker above the low outside corner, Malloy spoils. 98 on the sinker.

McKinstry takes a sinker at the bottom edge of the zone, inner half, that one not called, maybe 10% on Gameday, so marginal. Sinker on the inside corner, thigh high, doesn't quite barrell it, the looping liner to right stays up for Soto, who moves right and in, catches, ending the game.
Yanks win the opener, 3-0, and move to 23 games over .500 for the 1st time since June 25th.
