Are we past the "this team sucks...won't even make playoffs" stage yet? It would be fun if we could find the predict the Yankees record thread prior to the start of the season I’ve bumped it to the first page.

They'd have to sit Wells either tonight or tomorrow afternoon, so they're doing it when the Tigers are opening with a righty reliever but might be going to a lefty follower by the time Trevin's spot in the order comes up, rather than have Trevino start against righty Keider Montero tomorrow afteroon. Wells gets to start against a righty, and can pinch hit later on tonight if need be. It's also a good chance to get the rookie catcher two days off in a row; he's been playing a lot lately with Narvaez as the backup. exactly. wells had been carrying the load having started 5 straight games. the supposed matchups indicated that it was the best way to get trevy back in there and it turned out he had a really good game w a double, stolen base and threw out a runner. cole was effusive in his praise in his post-game (actually all 3 - calling it a blessing). boone & judge chimed in as well.
think wells will be fine. he had already started hitting about a month before trevino went down. he understands the situation. my sense going forward, is they'll go to the 50-50 split maybe weighted slightly towards wells since he does provide better protection for judge against RH pitching. at then end of the day, it takes all 26 guys. Wells is playing like an all star and is the only hitter that did a good job in the clean up spot after Judge. Trevino is a major liability in the running game, the spit should be 80-20 in favor of Wells or 75-25 at the least.

This huge if the Yankees are going to win the World Series. They need Ace Cole.

Impressive power display by Peraza. Would love to see Peraza reach his potential with the Yankees as their starting SS with Volpe moving to 2B.

Had wells gotten off to a hot start to the season and continued it, Trevino may have been trade bait or simply settled into the role of Higashioka and Romine.

I am starting to wonder if either will be able to ever flourish offensively to lead off. They may forever occupy the bottom of the order with representative to solid defense.

It would be fun if we could find the predict the Yankees record thread prior to the start of the season It's even more fun to go back and read previous game threads...often immediately after the game. Predictions for the 2024 season should be near the top of the threads list !!!

Austin Wells is the 3rd best hitter on the Yankees. You can's take his bat out of the lineup for half the games. Boone needs to figure out how. I've suggested 1st base where the improved offense would compensate for any defensive limitations he might have. If not, try LF and when needed, DH. At the end of the day the Yankees have to protect Aaron Judge and Wells is the guy who has done it this year. I was hoping that the Yankees would get Rice some playing time at Catcher to give them the flexibility to DH Wells to keep his bat in the lineup on days that he is not catching They could still do that ... however Rice would be thrown into Catcher Ice cold if Trevino went down and Wells was at DH The problem with givinbg Wells at bats at DH is Stanton. IMO Stnton carried his weight when healthy but blocked us of the slot for anyone else. You can't use Wells for match ups if he starts the game at DH as it leaves you without a 2nd catcher. Yes, it would be nice if Rice could do some work behind the plate, but the Yankees are not buying into that idea.
