Just a sad effort offensively today, which seems maddeningly commonplace against bad teams.

Sinker inside, ball 1 on Jung. Sinker inside, fouled, 1-1 Fouls off a sinker on the corner inside, 1-2 Sinker low near middle, 2-2 Sinker on the corner away is strike 3, not called, 80% on Gameday, terrible call. 3-2 Sinker at the bottom in the middle, served to left for a single. Torkelson stops at 2nd with 2 down. Blake goes out to give Hill a breather. He's at 19 pitches as Baez steps in with 1st and 2nd, and 2 down.

Sinker well outside, ball 1 on Baez. Sinker about 6 inches outside above the knees, 2-0. Watch out here, Hill.

The best record in baseball reflects how well the team played in the first months of the season. Since the start of June the Yankees have been a 500 team.

A walk, a bloop, a bleeder, and a blast and this game is tied!

FB in the zone, outer 3rd at the top, Baez misses late and under, pops it to right, Soto moves close to the line, catches, inning over.
Top 9, 4-0 Tigers, and it's like the Tigers closer, Jason Foley, will come in for the non-save situation to try to close it out against Judge, Stanton and Wells for the Yanks.

Hill is forced to get four outs by the umpire but gets the job done.

Foley in there. FB at 97, thigh high near middle, immediately lined hard to left center, goes to the wall for a leadoff double. If Wells can get on, the Yanks might make a fight of this one yet.

Wells takes a slider outside. Then misses a FB at the top in the middle at 97, 1-1 Flies open a bit, misses well high with a Fb above the outer half, 2-1 Good sinker with two plane movement in the zone a bit low and away, Wells late, fouls it off, 2-2 Flies open again, misses way wide with a 98 FB, Wells takes, 3-2 Very good sinker drops into the zone up and away, and Austio does Wells (ahem) to spoil. But cancels that good swing by guessing sinker down and in but in the zone, but swinging over the slider out of the zone down and in, K, 1 down.
