Torres misses a sinker above and outside middle 0-1 Misses a FB up in the zone, 0-2 FB at the top in the middle at 98.5, foul tipped into the mitt, K, inning over. Yanks lead 2-1 going bottom 10. Sweeney will be the ghost-runner. Tigers will send up Rogers or a PH, then back to the top for Meadows and Greene. Not sure who pitches for the Yanks. Holmes needed 22 pitches to cough up the lead in the 9th. It took Leiter 2. Much more efficient. |

"Swing and miss" Mark Leiter, Jr. in for the 2nd straight game to try to close it out. Where's the real swing and miss guy, Cousins? Threw 19 pitches yesterday, I guess. FB outside, ball 1 on Meadows. FB at the knees, taken, 1-1. Change low/away, swung on and missed. Mckinstry steals 2nd, Volpe catches the off line throw and almost tags, but he slid to the CF side and made it. Yanks desperately challenge, call upheld. |
