One shouldn't overlook Boone as a factor in turning potential wins into gut punch losses with his bullpen handling. Call it bad luck or incompetence, his recent track record desn't inspire hope for going deep in the playoffs. The line up alot of the time doesn't help either Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

15 games against bad teams. With rest in between. Going in, I though 10-5 should be the floor for this stretch. 11-4 or 12-3 should have been the aim. They went 8-7. Maybe we will rise up against the good teams, but it is looking more like we might not even make the playoffs. This is a double whammy, as what if Soto leaves?

The doom and gloom in this thread tonight is ridicolous. Yes that loss sucked but the team is still in first place, that Passan tweet shows how meh the entire league is right now, and they have an 8 game cushion on a playoff spot with 37 games to go.

Just to add one more thought. Is Verdugo hurt???? Why wasn't he in left field as a defensive replacement? I am fairly sure he would have gotten the runner at home..

Had to turn the game off with one out in the 9th and no one on. I see Clay Holmes strikes again. I wonder when the Yankees will realize he is not a closer and let Weaver try.

certainly a huge disappointment. since sweeping the phillies, we've gone 8-7 in august against sub .500 teams. blew a chance to put some distance between us and the O's. but that's the DNA of this team. nevertheless, we're still tied for the most wins and no one else has shown any inclination to pull away. been saying parity or mediocrity. take your pick.
stroman pitched very well. that's 2 in a row so maybe something to build on and aggravating to waste yet another good start.
of course the elephant in the room is holmes. to keep giving away hard fought wins is crushing. actually did think his stuff was "good" except for the double. but there can't be exceptions. you make a mistake you pay. 10 blown saves is unacceptable. if it was even just half that, we'd be far ahead of the field. sounds like they're sticking with him. we have a couple "decent" options, but whether it's weaver or cousins, no one's a sure thing. so for now we live and die w holmes. it has cost us and in the end it's the weakest link in this team.
was really surprised not to see cousins in the game. guess leiter's the new toy and they wanna get him in games but he has continued to stink up the joint. didn't think he was a savior but thought he was at least an upgrade. hopefully he finds his footing.

Remove other teams from the debate. What gives you the thought that the Yanks have what it takes to go all the way?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk should have dug deeper. my general point is even if you give him a "reasonable" amount of blown saves (3-4) which turned out to be losses, we'd be 3-4 games ahead of the field. 10 is way too many and unfortunately it's been our achillies heel and could prevent us from going deep in the PS.
