Volpe has been so damn streaky this year. He runs hot or cold, seems like no in between.

Torres... Boyd breaks out his curve, drops it waist high on the corner away, 0-1 Change on the corner away, rolled over to Rocchio at short, he gets the force to Gimenez at 2nd, inning over.
Top 3, 2-1 Yanks.
17 pitches for Boyd in the 2nd, 39 through 2. J. Naylor, Brennan and Noel for the Guardians in the 3rd.

Judge's 45th HR: 102.1 mph, 372 feet, 36° launch angle, like Soto a HR only in this ballpark. Smoltz cackles to himself, rubs his hands together in sinister glee.

J. Naylor rolls over on a 1st pitch slider below middle, DJ fields, takes it to the bag, 1 down.

Brennan takes a change outside, ball 1. Takes a slider in the drop the bat happy zone down and in, 1-1 Change above the low outside corner, served to the left side, Volpe slides down to his right and catches, 2 down.

Noel takes a FB that probably caught a piece up the corner up and in, not called, 1-2% on gameday, 1-0 Change misses inside, 2-0 Change hits the low inside corner 2-1 FB way high, 3-1 Slider way low/outside, ball 4.

Change misses down and in, ball 5 FB misses well outside near the top, ball 6 Change misses 3 inches outside, ball 7. FB hits the zone at the knees inner 3rd, but he's all over the place, so the ump blows the call, ball 4, but it was 40% on Gameday, so: bad call.
So much for a fast inning for Gil. Back to back walks.

Gil realized that the inning may be over too quick, so he forgot how to throw strikes, again

Schneemann fouls off a FB on the inside corner at 97, 0-1 Change to the knees, outside middle, fouled, 0-2 Hangs the slider down the middle, lined to right for a hit, Noel scores, the throw is cut off, Schneedmann draws the throw, DJ cuts him off from 2nd, Volpe bluffs, looks at Gimenez, runs him back, throws to soon, and Schneemann escapes, because nobody backed up the play at 2nd. 2nd and 3rd, 2 down for B.Naylor.
Volpe blows that play. at the very worst he has to chase Schneemann back to first, and keep another runner out of scoring position, Gil should be backing up DJ, and Verdugo or Judge has to back up at 2nd.

This is a poorly coached team.

Volpe should have run the runner back to first base rather than throw to torres
