Naylor... Kwan gets an enormous jump on the 1st pitch to J. Naylor, no chance, but Wells rushes the throw sails into right center, Kwan gets up to go to 3rd on the SB, E-2. Man on 3rd, 2 down.

Cutter on the low outside corner, rolled over to the right side, Rice comes off the bag, fields, flips a bit high, but Cole concentrates on the ball first, catches, then gets to the bag well ahead of Naylor for the 3rd out.
Bottom 1, 0-0 17 pitches for Cole in the 1st.

Torres leads off for the Yanks... The FB might not be Williams best pitch, but he uses it the most.
FB at the top at 97, swung under, 0-1 FB high, inner half, taken, 1-1 Hangs the curve inside waist high, looped to left, Kwan comes in, appears to make a shoestring catch, but on replay, it one-hopped into the mitt. Yanks should challenge.

Yanks are challenging. On replay it looked like it didn't bounce off the glove, but off the ground. Should be overturned but the original call is "out".

Taking a while to get this overturned. Helluva a bad way to lose the challenge for the game so early if they don't.

Soto takes a cutter down and in, but in the zone at 93, 0-1 Takes a cutter that bounced, inner half, 1-1 Takes a change with good two plane movement that winds up 4-5 inches low outside middle, 2-1 Cutter goes down thigh high in the middle, fouled down, 2-2 Beats him clean with an exploding FB up in the zone at 98, good run on that one, K, 1 down.

Judge takes a cutter bounced outside, 1-0 FB inner 3rd, thigh high at 99.8, late and under, fouled off the right side, 1-1. FB runs inside, makes him raise his arms, 2-1 Cutter at the knees outser half, popped to right, Brennan comes in and catches, 2 down.

Wells... Throw over on Torres. Fb above middle, takes, 98.7 on that one. Change in the zone low/away, fouled off and Wells is behind the 8-ball at 0-2. Change takes 3-4 inches outside, Wells chases and fouls. FB tails to the outside corner at 98, spoiled. Takes a curve that misses well down and in, 1-2 Gets a big break from the ump, Cutter at the knees, outside middle, called a ball, and 50-50 on Gameday, 2-2. FB at 99 in the zone below and inside middle, Wells late and under, fouls it off. Long at bat for Wells here.

Enjoyed your name game feature as always qwik. Your mention of Stan Williams reminds me that he was traded from the Dodgers for Moose Skowron after the 1962 season in a very unpopular move with Yankee fans. Williams was only 26 and should have been a valuable piece for the Yankees, but he performed poorly during his two seasons with them. Moose had a lousy 1963 for the Dodgers, but had a great World Series against the Yanks. I was still rooting for him even though he was wearing the wrong jersey.
Williams was very effective for LA in the late 50s and early 60s as part of an excellent staff that included Koufax, Drysdale and Podres. He had issues with alcohol that had to have diminished his skills.
I was also happy to see your shoutout yesterday to Joey Jay. The first Little Leaguer to make the majors and one of the few pitchers to have two 20-win seasons and not win 100 games for his career.
Keep up the Name Game business!

FB inside corner, waist high, spoils it again. Good job making Williams work. Change to the outer 3rd near the corner at 92, Wells swings under it for the K. Might have been the cutter. Gameday says Fastball, but if so, that's a fairly extreme range on the FB velocity, 92-100.
Inning over. Top 2, 0-0 Noel, Gimenez and B. Naylor for the Guardians in the 2nd, 21 piitches for Williams in the 1st.

I forgot that detail on Jay or I'd have included it, pipps. Glad you enjoy it.
