Blackmon... Takes a cutter down and in, ball 1. FB below and outside middle, pulled to Rice, again goes to a knee to make sure, takes it to the bag, inning over. Bottom 7, 3-0 Yanks. 7-8-9 for the Yanks, Volpe, Verdugo and Rice vs. Freeland again, I would think, with the two lefties due, and at just 89 pitches through 6.

Weaver used 19 pitches in the 7th, so if the Yanks don't open it up more, it's Kahnle for the 8th.

Before I forget entirely: Judge's 49th HR: 102.5 mph, 388 feet, 37° launch angle, a HR in 29 of 30 parks.

Rogers from DH to 2nd, so the Rockies are without the DH the rest of the way.

Volpe takes a FB down and in, 1-0 Takes a slider on the backdoor, 1-1 Fouls off a FB in the zone, outer 3rd, 1-2 Sinker high, inner half, taken, 2-2 Curve on the corner inside, thigh high, fouled 2-2 Sinker waist high, inside corner, ties him up, popped foul near the Yankees dugout, Toglia moves over, catches it a step or two from the railing, 1 down.

Verdugo takes a FB down the middle, thigh-high, 0-1 Takes a FB that missed just low, outside half, 1-1. Gameday says 5-10% so maybe Verdugo got a break there. Slider misses low/away, 2-1 FB misses outside, thigh high 3-1. Fb in the zone outer 3rd, below the waist, Verdugo misses, fouls it, 3-2. Sinker above the knees in the middle, inside outs a grounder, but right to Tovar, throws him out, 2 down. Well, at least he didn't roll it over again.

Judge's OPS at 1.195. Edging closer to that big 1.200 mark.

Judge's OPS at 1.195. Edging closer to that big 1.200 mark. By-the-by, he was "just" 1.111 in '22.

Rice takes a thigh high slider 3-4 inches outside, 1-0 FB misses 2-3 inches outside, knee high. Freeland has gotten 5-6 bad calls tonight, but that wasn't one of them, 2-0 But that one was. Slider clips the inside corner, not called, 3-0, 10-20% on Gameday FB thigh high outer 3rd, taken, 3-1 Gives him a 3-1 sinker just below middle middle, and Rice pulls it through the 34 hole, just to Rogers' left for a 2 out single.
And that's it for Freeland, who, in all truth, pitched a very good game. Jeff Criswell comes in to pitch to Torres with 2 outs and a man on 1st.

Criswell's page at Baseball Reference does NOT say he's the brother of Cooper Criswell.

Slider misses 3-4 inches high, outer 3rd, 1-0 on Gleyber. Slider backs up inside, 2-0 FB at 96 just below the high inside corner, fouled back, 2-1 Same pitch, a bit higher, swung under by Torres, 2-2 Throw over on the speed demon, Rice.

kaybli Where the heck is Kaybli? He's either busy with work or in an ice cream coma. A little bit of both. You know me too well, rizz. I had ice cream earlier, took a nap, overshot the game, and now have to finish up a little work on a Friday night. Lame. At least the Yankees are winning!

Slider on the backdoor fools Torres, takes it waist high for the ꓘ, inning over.
Not Kahnle, but Cousins for the 8th for the Yanks. He'll face the top of the order in a "set-up/backup closer audition": Tovar, Rogers, and Doyle. Top 8, 3-0 Yanks.
