And here we go with Holmes on the mound. Let's make it an uneventful event.

Sinker misses down and in, 1-0 Sinker in the zone down and in, takes it, 1-1 Throws another one, and it might be 3-2. Slider outside middle, taken, 1-2 Toglia 0-2 vs. Holmes. Slider at the knees inside middle, and Toglia just misses down the end of the bat, high fly to right dies short of the track, Soto catches, 1 down.

Judge's 1.195 OPS would be the highest in the AL since Mark McGwire in 1996. If you affix an asterisk to that for juicing, it's Frank Thomas in 1994. It's the highest in MLB since Bonds 2004, again asterisk, so that would revert to Thomas in 1994, too. If you wanna throw a "full season" caveat on there with 1994 shortened by the strike, you have to go all the way back to Ted Williams in 1957 at 1.257 for both the AL & MLB. He's truly having a season for the ages. Unbelievably, Teddy Ballgame achieved that at 38 years of age. He was remarkable...for a Red Sox player. That year was the first year I have a clear memory of following baseball and I do very well recall what Williams did. I remember my father emphasizing to me to focus on watching Ted Williams because I would probably never see another hitter like him. He was for sure amazing, but watching Judge these past few years is right up there for a memorable baseball experience. I just feel fortunate to have seen players like that in my lifetime. What a game.

Stallings has never faced Holmes, they were teammates with the Pirates. Takes a slider in the zone down and in, 0-1 Takes a sinker well low in the middle, 1-1 Bad slider outside middle, fouled, 1-2 Takes the slider going well low, near the corner away, 2-2 Craptastic no-chance slider starts outside and bounces, easy take, 3-2.

This game is far from Holmes-proofed.

Whewwww Gets the call on a high sinker that dropped into the very top of the zone in the middle, <5% on Gameday, ꓘ, 2 down.

3 in a row.
Fortunately it was the Rockies, so we were spared another Holmesing.
On to the next one.
