Trevino... Takes a FB on the outside corner thigh high, 0-1 Same pitch maybe an inch higher and an inch further outside, also taken, 0-2 Takes something off, stays outside, taken, 1-2 Curve into the zone at the knees, inner 3rd, bounced foul near home. Sinker above and outside middle, he grounds it near the end of the bat to 2nd, Rogers fields on the right side of 2nd, throws him out, 2 down.

I remember Kyle Rote, Jr. He competed several times (and won at least a time or two) in The Superstars series on Saturdays. They competed in rowing, tennis, swimming, weightlifting, bowling, 100 yard dash, half-mile run, bike racing, and the dreaded obstacle course was the highlight. He is a Texas boy, born in Dallas. Good recall Rizz. Kyle Sr was also a Texan, born in San Antonio (a city I am long overdue to re-visit) and a highly acclaimed All American at SMU. First overall pick in the 1951 draft. Back to the game. SMU always makes me think of Don Meredith, Eric Dickerson, and the legendary Raymond Berry.

Volpe takes a slider 4-5 inches outside, thigh high, 1-0 Rolls over on a sinker at the knees in the middle, grounder goes right to Tovar, easy play, inning over.
Very easy 1-2-3 for Freeland, 3 grounders to the middle infield. Just 10 pitches and 28 through 2. Top 3, 0-0. Jones, Beck and Schunk for the Rockies in the 3rd.

Jones... Bad FB just outside middle, but Jones watches it go by, 0-1. Don't throw another one, Carlos. Slider well low and outside, 1-1 Fb about 6 inches outside, waist high, taken, 2-1 Another Fat FB this one maybe just below middle middle, pulled hard to the right side, beats Torres' backhanded lunge for a leadoff single to right. Rondon from the stretch for the 1st time tonight vs. Beck.

FB in the zone up and in, taken for a strike. Change to the low outside corner, swung early and over, 0-2 Slider bends to the knees, in the middle, Beck fooled, ꓘ, 1 down.

You're too young to remember the late 60s tandem of Chuck Hixson to Jerry LeVias. And of course there was the NCAA Death Penalty.

Curve drops into the top of the zone outside middle, bad call, 90% on Gameday, called a ball, 1-0. Schunk misses a FB at the top, inner half, 1-1 Throw over on Jones. Jones is 3 for 6 stealing bases this year. FB at the top, bunts, pops it up, Rodon sees it right away, but Trevino doesn't, breaking well late, and has no chance to get to it, it falls foul. Back leg slider bounced, he starts but checks in time, 1st base ump says no swing, 2-2 Shoots the slider for the knees on the backdoor, misses well low, 3-2 Challenge this guy, Carlos.

Not exactly the pitch I expected, but he starts the slider high and it bends into the top of the zone, inner half, and he's fooked, ꓘ, 2 down.

Our travel schedule is getting very cramped. Which to us is a good thing.

Tovar gets a waist high curve just outside, fouls it off, 0-1 Bounces a slider near the inside corner, taken, 1-1 Throw over again, not close. Sigh. Bad slider down the middle, ripped hard into the corner in left, Verdugo gets over as fast as he can, picks it up, and they hold Jones at 3rd, saving a run. For now. 2nd and 3rd, 2 down for Rogers.

How about the Packers Hall of Fame tackle Forrest Gregg? Another Texas boy and SMU alum.

Rodon humps up to 96.4, FB brushes the corner inside, strike 1. 25% on Gameday Slider misses down and in, 1-1 Curve bends down, gets a small piece of the zone up and away, not called, 10-20% on Gameday. Break for Rogers there. Slider above middle, swung under, lucky for Rodon, fouled, 2-2 Bad slider again, in the zone above and outside middle, fouled off. 22nd pitch of the inning coming here.
