rodger grounds out to volpe to end 5th. pres and I thought the same thing, bump. Slider on the outside corner not called, Verdugo gets a break, 50-50 on Gameday. Slider misses just outside, thigh high, takes it, 2-0 Slider misses low/away, takes a gain, 3-0 FB 3-4 inches outside, below the waist, takes it, ball 4 1st and 2nd, nobody out for Rice. |

Slider low, outer half, taken, 1-1
Slider at the knees, outside middle, Toglia doesn't risk the throw for the force, takes the sure out at 1st, 2 down, 2nd and 3rd for Torres.

FB inside corner, waist high, McMahon moves right, but it takes a weird hop behind him, goes off his mitt, gets away, Volpe scores, Verdugo to 3rd, 2-0 Yanks on the gift by McMahon. E-5.

Soto with a change to put the hammer down, but he doesn't hit Freeland much at all. Maybe doesn't see the ball from him well...
Sinker waist high, outside, chases and fouls, 0-1

Slider near middle, but he's late and under, popped high to left, Jones comes in, catches, inning over.
That pitch is telltale. Even count, Slider without much break near middle, and he recognized it late and missed under, popping it up.
He just doesn't "see" Freeland well.
Yanks get a gift run, lead 2-0, going top 6.
14 pitches for Freeland in the 5th, 73 through 5.
3-4-5 get their 3rd look at Rodon, Doyle, McMahon and Toglia for the Rockies in the 6th.

FB in the zone up and away, Doyle right on it, smashes a liner to Verdugo, he starts left, then turns back right and catches, 1 down.
Thank goodness for at-em balls, or that's a double.
