Splitter dives just outside, Wells has been missing that all day, but he hits that one off the end of the bat, shattering it, the bouncer goes to Tovar right near 2nd, and he turns an easy 6-6-3 DP to kill the inning.
Top 6, 7-2 Rockies. Yanks had a chance to get the rookie before he got taken out, but it's gone now.
10 pitches for Blalock in the 5th, 88 through 5.
2-3-4 for the Rockies: Tovar, Doyle, and McMahon.
Tonkin in to pitch the 6th.

Slider below and outside middle, misses late and under, flies to right, Soto moves right, catches, 2 down.

Takes a FB well high, outside corner
Fouls off a FB below middle, 1-1
FB low, fouled off, 1-2
Tries for the backdoor with a slider away, hangs outside, 2-2
Slider winds up in a bad spot, below middle middle, but McMahon misses under, high fly to deepish left of center, Grisham goes back, catches, inning over. Tonkin got away with a location mistake there.
1-2-3 for Tonkin in the 6th on 12 pitches.
Bottom 6, 7-2 Rockies.
Chisholm, Volpe and Verdugo for the Yanks.

Sharp blade of a slider hits the low outside corner, 0-1 on Volpe.
Gets under that slider, misses high, 1-1
Mistakw with the slider, was supposed to be outside, wound up thigh high and middle, Volpe opens up early again, pulls it foul off 3rd.
FB high, chased, fouled, still 1-2.
Takes a FB well low/away, 2-2
FB up and in, ties him up a bit, popped high to left, Jones fights the sun, comes in, catches, 1 down.

Luis Peralta into the game for Colorado to face Verdugo, then Rice and Grisham.
You'll be shocked to learn Peralta is a lefty the Rockies put on the roster today.
