McMahon gets a 1-1 slider at the bottom, grounds it to Torres for out #2.

Unfortunately, this team will keep reminding us what will ultimately be their undoing. What a trash pen.

Rodgers fouls off a FB outside, 0-1 Sinker away, nubbed down 3rd, swinging bunt, Chishplm picks it up, looking at the trademark, holds it, infield hit.

Getting rag dolled by the ROCKIES on old timers day. Have some friggin' pride. I see my new favorite Yankee, Leiter, added to the fire, lol. It's amazing how hard Cashman failed in upgrading the bullpen. I'm not even sure I'm mad about it, kind of in awe. Has Leiter had one clean inning since he's been with the Yanks? Huge disappointment. In his fourth appearance back on Aug 4th he went 1.1 against the blue jays not allowing a hit or walk (though he did hit a batter). Otherwise, nope. In every other outing, he has been stacking base runners. He's been by any measure a trade deadline downgrade.

Toglia takes a sinker on the corner inside, not called, bad call, 25% on Gameday but, 9-2 in the 8th, so...¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Fouls off a sinker down the middle, 1-1 Takes a sinker low, 2-1 Fouls off a sinker maybe a 1/2 inch higher than the one before, 2-2 Sinker on the inside corner, hit hard down 3rd, Chisholm gets low and backhands behind 3rd, sets andfires it to 1st, Rice scoops up the hop, inning over. Got Toglia by a step. Great play by Jazz, good scoop by Rice to complete it.
Bottom 8, 9-2 Rockies. A pitcher I know nothing about, Angel Chivilli, comes in to pitch for Colorado. He'll face Judge, Wells and Chisholm.

Judge fouls off a sinker near middle Sinker up and in hits the elbow guard. Well now.. After throwing at Judge, the Yanks have to rally long enough to get Judge another swing today? Right?? Right??? I said...
RIGHT????
Well OK, maybe not.

Wells falls behind, 0-2, works the count back to 3-2 by taking a change inside. Change in the zone down and in, Wells misses late and under, pops to 3rd, McMahon comes in a ways, goes just foul, and catches, 1 down.

Chisholm... Takes a change low. Takes a sinker well outside, 2-0 Gets a sinker in the middle thigh high, misses it, 2-1 Sinker low, Chisholm tries to go with it, slapped to the shortstop spot, finds McMahon playing way off 3rd, flips to Tovar for the 5-6 force, Chisholm beats the relay easily, 2 down.

Volpe takes a sinker on the inside corner up in the zone not called, 30% on Gameday, but again...¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Pulls off the slider just outside again, 1-1 Slider outside middle, fouls it off. Sigh, 1-2 Slider 4-5 inches low in the middle, taken, 2-2 Slider out of the zone low, away, drops the top hand trying to pull, rolls it over to Tovar and is thrown out to end the inning.
He has to STOP THINKING ABOUT BEING A 25-30 HR HITTER and start looking for the pitch away and going with it to right, or he's going to keep whiffiing and making weak rollover grounders on sliders and changeups away. That will keep his BAVG in the .220-.240 range. Paradoxically, if he starts going to right again, as he did the first 6 weeks of the season, not only will he hit .280 again, but he'll get a half-dozen Porch HRs that way each season.

Top 9, 9-2, Rockies. Kahnle gets an inning down by 7. It's true they need the inning, but it's also true Kahnle's had 3 days of rest and can pitch again tomorrow if needed. Assuming he doesn't throw 30 this inning.

Change down the middle, 0-1 FB on the outside corner, 50-50 not called, and now it's becoming annoying. 1-1 Swings over a change low, 1-2 Swings on another change well low, foul tips it into the mitt, K, 1 down.
