Change misses low, 2-3 inches, called a strike anyway, 0-1. 0%, not close Change on the corner low/away, fouled, 0-2 FB above middle, fouled off. Change low/away, chased, fouled. Same FB as the 0-2, this time, Jones swings and misses, K, 2 down.

Romo takes a change tailing well outside, ball 1. Knee high change in the middle, fouled off, 1-1 Change below and inside middle, lined to the corner in, right, Soto plays the carom well, throws it back in, turns out to be a close play as Romo doesn't slider, but he's barely safe with a 2 out double.

Blackmon takes a change on the outside corner, 0-1 FB above and outside middle, bounced to Torres, throws him out, inning over. Bottom 9, 9-2 Rockies. Last licks for the Yanks: not a promising set-up: Verdugo, Rice and Grisham.

Bowden Francis' no-hitter intact through 8 innings, 111 pitches, 12 K's and 3 BB. Jays up 3-0 bottom 8th. Astros still up 1-0 on the O's top 4th. D'backs-Sox still 0-0 botton 4.

Molina in for the Rockies to pitch the 9th. Verdugo fouls off a FB down the middle Takes a change just outside. Takes a FB on the corner away, 1-2 Fb at the knees, not called, should've been, 20% on Gameday, 2-2 FB low in the zone, lined hard, but McMahon catches with a big leap, 1 down.

Rice... Waist high FB outside corner, fouled. Swings under a FB above the inner half, 0-2. Takes a FB well high, inner half, 1-2 Curve bounced over home, he lays off it, 2-2 Change about 4-5 inches below the outside corner, chased, but he gets a piece to stay alive. Change 8 inches low in the middle, lays off again, from 0-2 to 3-2.

Change right down the middle, maybe a bit below the waist, he's out front and misses it. Right after the 3 HR game, everyone started to throw Rice changes and splitters and he hasn't learn to recognize them yet.

Grisham misses a FB up in the zone, 0-1 Slider at the knees is a 1-2% strike not called, marginal, 1-1 Gets a meatball down the middle, a hanging slider, fouls it off, 1-2 Change drops onto the outside corner, above the waist, Grisham thinks it's a FB going outside, takes it for the ꓘ. Game over.
Yanks lose 9-2, breaking the 3-game win streak. They drop back to 22 over .500 with 32 to play, 76-54 on the season. Season is now 4/5ths over.
Taylor Ward broke up Francis' no-hit bid, leading off the 9th with his 17th HR, 3-1 Jays. Chad Green in to try to close it out.
Game 3 is the usual later Sunday matinee on YES at 1:37 pm. Austin Gomber (4-8, 4.64 ERA) is one of the Rockies top 2 starters, and he's a lefty, so bad news for the Yanks there. Gomber had a long bad stretch, but has pitched well in 3 of his last 4 starts. Marcus Stroman (8-6, 3.82 ERA) starts for the Yanks, he's pitch back-to-back good games after a long bad stretch of him own.
Game preview done, I'll check the late notifications, if any.

Disappointing loss. Just could not come back from poor pitching.

Congrats to Trent Grisham on his golden sombrero!
He now stands at .185 as his quest for a third straight sub-Mendoza season chugs on. Good luck, Trent!

Lifelong dyed-in-the-wool Yankee fan, but as a season ticket holder from Day One in '93 thru 2001, still a small soft place in my heart for the Rox. Nice azbob! What was your favorite Colorado Rockies memory?
