I don't like the "feel" of this game Just too many easy outs in this Yankee lineup. It will get really exposed in the playoffs. This Yankees line-up lacks the killer instinct of the older Yankees teams. They need to be more patient at the plate, stop this 1st pitch swinging! Make the opposition pitchers work. |

Slider stays in the zone low/away, Tovar almost gets all of it, deep fly to left center, Verdugo races back fights the sun and makes the catch, 2 down. Blackmon goes back to 1st.

Doyle...
Sinker way up and in, Doyle has to spin out of there, 1-0
Sinker drops into the top of the zone, outside middle, 1-1
Chases the slider about 3-4 inches outside, thigh high, 1-2
Slider bounced outside, Doyle starts, but checks in time. Side view says "no swing", 2-2.
Leaves the slider just below middle, BAD location, and Doyle just misses under, high fly to medium deep left is a much easier play for Verdugo, inning over.
Bottom 7, 4-3 Yanks.
Top of the order needs to get something done this inning, or the next time they bat, they might be behind. If they bat again. IF.
Torres, Soto and Judge for the Yanks in the 7th.

The way this team plays down to their competition is infuriating. I guess it's kind of common in baseball this year. Don't think there's a big gap between the "good" and "bad" teams. True, but this Yankee lineup, after the Big Two, isn't that good. Take away one of Soto/Judge, this is a .500 at the very best. Take away both and they're one of the worst teams in baseball. It just shows how flawed the "good" teams are when a team like this Yankees club has been in the running for the best record in baseball. Parity is very real. Last years World Series says that loudly. Two deeply flawed teams got that far and one won it. Wouldn't be surprised if the same happens this year. |

Jays clocking the Angels again 6-1, top 8 in Toronto.
D'backs have rallied for a 6-4 lead, bottom 8 in Fenway. If they hold the lead, they sweep the Sox.
Rays-Dodgers in LA starts in 20 minutes.
Astros-O's at Camden Yards starts in 200 minutes. (That's 3 hrs, 20 minutes, y'all.)

But now Gomber is using just the curve and change, and it's stopped working. Criswell in for Gomber in the 7th. |
