Scissors effect!! Slurve aimed at the same spot as the sinkers, but breaks way outside, Tovar chases for a K, 1 down.

Cutter almost right down the middle, hammered to the gap in right center, goes to the wall, a 1 out double.

Slow slurve down the middle, but he seemed off balance as if not looking for the slurve there, 0-1.

Slurve at the knees, just inside middle, grounded to the left of 2nd, Volpe there, Doyle doesn't challenge, throws him out, 2 down.

Rodgers gets a waist high slurve on the outer 3rd, fouls it off.
Takes a slider bounced outside, 1-1
Slightly better slider still misses by too much to get a chase, 2-1
Brings the slider close to the zone at the knees, foul tipped, 2-2
Slider well outside again, Rodgers doesn't bite, 3-2. Stroman over 60 pitches now.
Takes his timeout.

Sinker down the middle, rolled over to Chisholm and he...doesn't boot it or throw it away, just fields it and throws out Rodgers to end the inning.
Bottom 3, 4-1 Rockies.
18 pitches for Stroman in the 3rd, and 62 through 3. If he gets into the 6th at all, he's doing well.
Stanton, Chisholm and Volpe for the Yanks in their half of the 3rd inning.

Chisholm takes a slider low, outer half, 1-0
FB on the low inside corner, rifled down 1st, Toglia makes an excellent stop, bad luck because he's holding first on Stanton or it's a probably double down the line.
Steps on 1st, throws to 2nd with Stanton not even halfway there. He gets in a jogdown, stops moving after a futile gesture in trying to get safely back somewhere and is tagged out for the double play, 2 down.

Volpe tries to bunt a curve up in the zone, misses, 0-1

Fouls off a slow curve on the corner away and up in the zone.
So he throws another a bit higher and more outside, and Volpe chases it for a K, inning over.
All too fast 3rd inning for Gomber, just 8 pitches, and 45 through 3.
6-7-8 for the Rockies in the 3rd: Toglia, Cave and Jones.
